This week we have a theme for the Blogging Chick’s Carnival ~ ‘Dreams‘. So remember the theme when you read this post today…Because by the time you have finished reading, you might think that I have lost all my marbles…
Let me back-up a little bit…When I was a little girl, I always wanted to be a police-woman on a motorcycle (my dad was an officer in the German police force). But when I grew up, no women were allowed in the German police force…Fast-forward….
Now that I am 40ish…raised a son with my Sweetheart, have a house, been in the work-force for 25 years…the dream has resurfaced. No, not being a motorcycle-cop, but riding a motorcycle ~ with a different purpose. One of my former friends told me that I am in the middle of a mid-life-crisis. Well, maybe she is right. But I say, I am burned out from daily life – BTDT like Carol likes to say…
God created beauty around us; but we are too busy to stop and enjoy that creation. There are places on this earth that I would like to see before I go Home…And why can’t I travel this earth, leave everything materialistic behind and enjoy His creation and witness to His love from the back of one of these?:
‘When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?”Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible”. Peter answered him, “We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?” Jesus said to them, “I tell you the truth, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life.’
~ Matthew 19:25-29 (emphasis mine)
Looking at the words of Jesus, I don’t see anything wrong with my dream. I am breaking free from the bondage of material stuff and could share God’s grace and mercy with others. And maybe down the road to somewhere, I can point to God and show people that this life is only the beginning of a much better life to come…
Okay, so maybe my dream is a little flawed; but it is my dream. Yeah, I can see myself on the back of a motorcycle, traveling the world…But before I take off to see the rest of His creation here and there, I would like to stop by a couple of my blogging buddies in Tennessee, Texas, Georgia & Pacific Northwest:wink:.
So, what is your dream?
Reading my way through the BC Carnival!
Great idea, I say go for it! 🙂 Motorcycle Mama!
Iris,
God is the one that places desires within us because he wants us to have the desires of our hearts. I had a friend once who felt the same way. She has stated to me that it was wonderful at first but became tiring after a while so she wished she hadnt been so drastic in selling all her earthly possesions, and taking off, but it was her desire and she loved it for a time. Now they travel two months around the states, on a big ole Harley and love it.
I can see you doing this as well, because you love photography, and adventure, who Knows maybe you could even learn to drive your sweety around on the motorcycle. Go for It!!
I forgot a part, they also were responsible in seeing a church started by leading a man to Christ who was so on fire for God they started a little church in a very remote area of Indiana, Isn’t God great??
Be Blessed, and keep praying about that dream.
Lovely carnival post, I hope all your dreams come true! I would have something, but a disaster of chocolate pudding got in my way…
I’ve always dreamed about being a Biker-Mama myself – so it’s a good thing.
Hey, Iris, it’s not hard to picture you as a ‘biker for Jesus’:-)…you’ve certainly got the heart! Let’s lift this dream to the Lord and see what happens! I’m tickled you’d want to visit me! My hubby used to have a motorcycle when I first met him back in ’76, but I only remember riding with my cousin when I was a kid (and got my leg burned on the tailpipe:-)…Blessings & hugs to you!.
You go girl! That is an incredible and doable dream. So perfect for you.
Now remember – that the Pacific Northwest is some incredibly beautiful country – and you want to get here before it starts to rain. Summer is wonderful here. So get going girl – can’t wait to meet you! 🙂
What a cool dream. I am so glad God made us all have different dreams too. Otherwise it would be so boring here! HAVE FUN!
I hate motorcycles so badly! (3 specific reasons!) BUT I can see why you’d like to do that–looks like fun and great way to experience the scenery!
One of the Blogging chicks is a motorcycle girl.
Visiting from the BC carnival
Dear One,
I don’t believe there’s any such thing as a “flawed dream,” so long as we are listening to the dreams that the Lord has planted on our hearts.
Now, truth be told, I chuckle a bit to think of you on a bike. You! LOL But OH….what a wonderful, freeing dream it is, Iris. Absolutely living “outside the box,” if you ask me. And you know how important I believe it is to “live outside the box.”
So…you go for it. You keep this precious dream before the Lord. He will bring all things to fruition according to everything that he’s planted on your heart.
As for me? I dream of being a best-selling author. Not for fame and money, no. But because I want my stories to speak into the lives of millions of children; I want millions of children to know and to love my characters the way I do. I want their little hearts to be inspired.
I also have always had a passion to speak Spanish fluently, and in recent years God has given me a HUGE burden for Mexico. I don’t know what that all means, but I know it’s from the Lord. I’m just going to have to keeping waiting to see what happens, you know? But Mexican people bring me to holy tears, if you know what I mean.
So, those are a couple of my dreams. 🙂
Great post Iris. I never liked motorcycles myself, too noisy, but God gave each of us different dreams, different desires, and likes and dislikes. Here’s the thing. He gave us these dreams and desires, but few of us ever follow after them. Desires will drive you past the destructive force of passivity; it will drive you through discouragement & delay; desire will drive you to discover new gifts and desire will drive you to become a servant. These thoughts came from one of the pastors in my church today. P.S. Our senior Pastor also rides a motorcycle. Zoom, Zoom, Zoom.
If it’s your dream and it’s atainable, go for it! We have dreams put into our heads because at certain seasons in our lives, that’s what we need to be doing!
Here from the BC carnival
Go for it… I wanna take a tour with ya – at least a short one. I’ll pray for your dream.
