got on too much lipstick and helps you with
your girdle when your hips stick.”
~ Ogden Nash ~
I had to laugh when I read this week’s quote. I have to tell you, I don’t wear much lipstick — I don’t feel comfortable with it. Maybe because I have not found the right one yet. I mean, I love to kiss my hubby a lot, and even though all promise “it will not rub off”, I haven’t found one that doesn’t. Maybe I am just too cheap to buy the good one .
But all kidding aside, there are things that my husband will point out. Like my eating habits. You see, he likes to eat, I could care less. I can live of a ‘Frusion‘ in the morning and have a sensible dinner. You can imagine that this can cause little fraction around here. Oh, don’t get me wrong; I like to cook for him; I just don’t like to eat meat much — and that my friend, my hubby doesn’t understand. But he has learned to live with my little quirks.
What really tickles me though is when my Sweetheart is concerned about my health. I have been battling an eye irritation for about a month now and he keeps reminding me to put the drops in he bought for me to clear it up (I guess that is my girdle )…Isn’t that what marriage is all about? Taking care of each other? If it is lipstick, food, girdles or eye irritations…
“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband. ~ Ephesians 5:31-33 (ESV)
It’s really sweet that your husband would be concerned about your eye irritation. I hope you can solve the problem. (I’ve noticed my lipstick attracts more kisses…) GB!
It’s all in the little things we do for each other :). I keep forgetting to mention to you that my mother-in-law is from Germany 🙂
My husband reminds me to put lipstick on (he loves it.) And I am the one who has to remind him to take his medicine. 😀 It works either way though.
Taking care of each other, definitely and each of us has different things that need taken care of. Wonderful.
We both worry about the other! He is more apt to not make a call to the doctor until I remind him a few times, and I am more apt to ignore what the doctor wants me to do! He thinks of food constantly and like you I could care less! I love a morning smoothy and a nice dinner. Wish that was all my spare tire wanted! LOL
But as a couple of God we do take care of each other. We listen, we nurture and we care!
Isn’t it funny the things or men pick up on? The things my husband points out are things I would have never considered. Oh, and the man dresses me! I could care less about fashion, but he knows I like to look nice and have no knack for it, so he helps me out! Gotta love a guy who can dress his woman! I love the way you always talk about your husband, as if he is your best friend and so much more!
yup, all those good “memory” things b/c they love us!
Yes, I think you are right. I like that quote in the ESV as well.
See, I’m the complete opposite. I’m obsessed with food and my hubby would live off air and water if he could. We do have to remind each other of everything. I think without each other, neither one of us would ever get anything accomplished!
Iris, that’s precious. I always love to read about the way you love your hubby so unconditionally, and the way he loves you.
For the record, I use “expensive” lipstick and it STILL rubs off! 🙂
I don’t put any lipstick on, it doesn’t suit me and I look painted. But I put make up on my eyes. My husband is behaving like an overduing nurse when I am sick ! He checks all 5 min on me asking if I need something and with this wakes me up ! I sometimes could kill him for that, but I don’t want to become a widow.
Now you’ve got me trying to figure out what my “girdle” is hmm…..
Precious, precious post. I like this husband of yours–he’s a keeper 😉
i’m glad i dropped by…
