“But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law who belonged to their sect complained to his disciples, ‘Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and ‘sinners’?’ Jesus answered them, ‘It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.'”~ Luke 5:30-32 (NIV)
How do you witness? How do you go about it? Do you witness at all? Do you invite them to your home/blog?
You see, He has rekindled my passion for the ‘lost’. A passion to witness that He is the only way that leads to heaven. I lived a sheltered life working in a Christian environment. I forgot how much people are hurting. How unsatisfied they really are. It doesn’t matter that they have the newest car in their drive-way, or the biggest house on the block…They are still missing something in their life. I know what they are missing. How do I share that? I am an introvert, so it is harder for me to speak up. But I also have His command and His Spirit that I need to share the Good news with others…
So, back to my question. How do you witness? Are you bold? Are you gentle? In order to see different witnessing ‘styles’ I thought a little contest would be fun…I would like you to write a little ‘essay’ about your own personal witness.
I even have a little price for you — 2 Worship CD’s (Hope by Hillsong Church & Alive Forever by Travis Cottrell) and 2 books (Out of the Saltshaker by Rebecca Manley Pippert and Voices of the Faithful by Beth Moore). If you wondering how I came up with the title “Shout His Fame” — I have been listening to the song called ‘Shout Your Fame’ by Hillsong Church over the last week. The words hit home for me…
I asked my blogging-buddy Sissy from Laced with Grace to assist me in selecting the most inspiring essay. The contest dead-line is November 20th. I will also add Mr. Linky this up-coming week so it it will be easier for you to submit your entry. It would be really cool if you also could post a little blurb on your blog about this little contest — let me know if you would like the button.
Sissy and I are looking forward reading your entry…
Update: Yes, Carol, I will also write an essay about my witnessing style…I will publish mine on November 21st .

This is quite a challenge! I think it’s a wonderful idea. I’m glad we have some time to think about it, though. It’ll take me a while to gather my thoughts. But, Iris – you won’t be adding your own essay? I’d love to read your response to this as well. Maybe after you chose your winner you could share your own thoughts with us, too?
Great idea, Iris.
Witnessing is so important and everyone has their own “style” based on how the creator made them. It will be very interesting to read!
I’ll have to think about this. I’ve heard that out of the saltshaker is a great book, and those CDs sound great, too. I love a good competition (is that okay? to be competitive about my witnessing essay???)
This is wonderful! Can’t wait to see what others will share!
Here very late for Click and Comment Monday. Great idea for a contest. I think I gave it all away in my comment on your last post.
Woooo, I must ponder this one. It looks like you have some good thinkers/writers on board. If we’re not out-of-town, I’ll try to contribute something. (Our “summer” vacation.) :~)
Great idea – I will mention it on my blog this week to help send more participants your way.
This is so cool!!!! I can’t wait to read these. I NEVER thought in a million years I could witness. I now can’t seem to shut up.. I am pretty much am a Jesus Freak!!! I invite my neighbors to Bible study. What a hoot! Love this. Be blessed, Lynn
I wish I could do it with you guys but time is what I don’t have right now my friends I too can’t wait to read what is written. Thanks for sharing.
Wish you well
This is a GREAT idea, Iris.
Hope you don’t mind DRIVE BY HUGS!!!!
love & hugs,
Vicki
This sounds like such a great idea. I will try to get right on it. Even if i don’t win, don’t expect to at all, i am not much of a writer, it will be great just to sit back and really put my thoughts together about the most important command Jesus left us with other than loving Him above all else.
Thank you for the challenge!!

what an interesting idea. Ofcourse evangelising is not the point – it’s the consequence of our being a Christian but I like what you do here … I’m linking to this. Not sure if I can write anything by the deadline though 🙁
Hi,
Oops, I clicked on the wrong button. Yikes… That is so like me however. Hey, you are always involved in such cool things! You go girl! Love and hugs, Lynn
You know we always need to witness for Him and let Him lead us while we do it…that way we never can go wrong in anything that we do!
hi there…just wanted to encourage your heart. you are a bright shiny light of Gods love out here in blogland.
shalom to you!
I was pointed here after I wrote a post yesterday about my five-year old–this is a great idea! I linked to my post. Not sure if it’s what you are looking for, since I’d already written it a few days ago 🙂
OK, my post is up! Thanks for the opportunity to reflect on evangelism… a worthwhile idea! GB. :~)
I loved this idea, my post is up.
Mine’s up. Looking forward to reading everyone else’s entries as well!
ok – i am up.
Can I just say that Sarah’s post about her son is the funniest, most wonderful post ever!!!! I just LOVED it!
I sort of forgot, but I remembered just in time!!
Thank you for stimulating conversation about this! My style I think is just contemplative – I think out loud on my blog about the ideas of Jesus that pop into my head. Sometimes it’s blatant, sometimes it’s more subtle. I’m also a poet with a show coming up in March 2007 in a fringe festival here if Fresno. I believe that because I was such a fringer myself for so long, I can have a voice to those who don’t want too much to do with mainstream Christianity. I can be honest – and have a reason for my hope if asked.
My most recent post on my blog is about seeing Santa at a Farmer’s Market – and how that relates to my faith!
Why should I shout God’s fame, when the world never heard or shouted His name? He gave His first couple life and Adam was the cause of the world’s death and strife, Eve was decieved and Satan relieved, as thence she walked in the pangs of life. A being and a wife, whom also disobeyed, what shall make us see and who should we look to when at bay come what may. I shall Shout out God’s Holy name, and knowingly know that he is not the blame, through the Son of His Love, Jesus everlasting life exsists, while the world looks to fame and some may even cast the blame on both, but with them lies hope.
