I just got a plugin link from my friend Jamie to install on this blog for the comment section (which I haven’t done yet). I just mentioned to my friend Carol, that I have about 400 unique visitors per day (which is double from previous months), but ‘my comments don’t increase’…
So, I did a little research on my stats page today…and guess what I found out? It had to do with this image (and others):
You see, bloggers on MySpace.com (won’t find the link here), liked the image. I like the image too. It took me several hours to create. And I really don’t mind sharing. Really — I do like to share and I am kind enough to have offered people to download my glitter images. You see the emphasis? Download!
Please don’t hot-link to my images and post them all over MySpace. You don’t even credit where the credit is do. I credited the people who made the tubes (CCD’s Tube Heaven) and glitter (Design by Alana’s site does not exists any longer) available for me to work with.
I found nearly 600 links from blogs that hot-linked to this image. Not only did you disregard my request to download the image, but also invited all those nasty people on to Sting My Heart. You know, the ones who want you to have your body-parts enlarged/reduced? I don’t need anything enlarged or reduced. God made me perfectly!
So, please in the future, if you like my images, drop me a note (contact form is in the sidebar). I am more than happy to email the images to you. And if you are wondering why this is written at Sting My Heart? Well, I don’t post on My Lighter Side any longer, but it still is my blog – and I pay for the bandwidth.
So, a huge bubble was busted for me today — I thought that people actually like reading what I have to say and they are just to shy to comment…And to my regular 200 visitor: thank you from the bottom of my heart :smile:.

We still like you! I know how you feel. My husband had a similar issue, which is why we have the no hotlinks protection. I have to remember not to use hotlinks as well, it is just so much simpler than going through the extra step that sometimes I forget. *bows head in shame.* I haven’t used any of your though and I do try to remember to download and upload.:)
Don’t be discouraged. He is bringing to your site exactly who needs to be here.
You should go back and copyright protect the image better. I think you can also make sure they can’t copy it at all. It is a beautiful image, congrats on such an accomplishment. I do hope you get more readers…

I’m so sorry this happened, Iris. (It’s a beautiful image, so I’m not surprised it was noticed.) I guess it’s a fair warning to the rest of us. :~)
They get the best of us… I’ve had it done, too… it stinks. That’s why I rarely host images on my domain. I use free hosting for tags, etc. =)

I totally don’t get how some of these things “work”, but WOW on 200 REGULAR readers, Iris! It doesn’t surprise me, but just think if EVERYONE DID comment! lol, you’d have to quit your day job. Were you able to do anything about them overloading your bandwidth? I can see tons of teenage girls loving the glittery butterfly :).
