Carnival Day and a Sniped

Yes, can you believe it is already Wednesday again? Where in the world did March go? I guess time is flying if you are having fun. This week’s Carnival of Beauty on the topic of flowers, is hosted by Amanda at Following an Unknown Path. Amanda lives currently in Taiwan. Check out her blog while you there. She has some great topics…It is very interesting to read about her life in Taiwan.

I also wanted to share with you this little sniped from a devotion I read Tuesday morning:

Now that we see love is necessary to please God, let’s take it a step further and ask ourselves how it will spur us on in the mission that God has set before us to reach the lost. First, if we do not love God with all of our hearts, we will never have the persistence to walk in faith during the trials that are sure to come. When we love, it allows us to trust. If we don’t love God, how can we trust that He will see us through? (taken from Encouragement for Today by Proverbs 31 Ministry – click here of the entire message).

I enjoy reading the devotions from Proverbs 31 Ministries. For some reason they always hit exactly what I need to hear…God is amazing :)…What devotions to do you read on a daily basis? Do you have a book? Do you get it in your email? Please do share with me.

Have a blessed Wednesday ~ Living by His grace 🙂

Flowers Cheer The Spirit

Have you ever wondered why God created flowers? I think they are here to lift our spirit in times we are down. It gives us a glimpse of Eden; what it might have been like – the beauty of it, I mean. I have two favorite flowers. One are Roses and the other, you might have guessed, Iris. My Mom liked the flower so much, that she had to name one of her girls after it – wonder who that is?

One of my favorite photo bloggers, Otto, is doing a series on Iris‘ right now (really cool). I just wish I had his eye for the beauty he sees in flowers. I just click, shoot and clean the photos up in my image software (like that one on your right *grin*)

You know what passage kept coming to mind this week as I was thinking about the carnival topic? Matthew 6:27-29 (NIV):

“Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.”

Hm, so why did this Scripture keeps coming to mind? Is God trying to tell me that I worry too much about tomorrow? Well, I think I am…Training my successor in my old job, starting a new job next week (hopefully – see there it is again – worry)…We always have enough food, clothes to wear and a roof over our head…Hello, so why do I worry now? I think it is just the ‘angst’ of the new things to come. But if I lean on Him and get my strength from Him, I do not need to worry. Don’t you agree? My heart knows that He will take care of my needs, but my head sometimes doesn’t get the message.

I am just glad that I am digging in this Word again – literally. Although in a different setting – blog Bible study (do you think Paul would’ve liked the internet and all it’s possibilities? – I think, he would’ve so much enjoyed it and cut down on his travel time for sure). Are you staying in His Word so that your head gets the message from your heart?…The comfort He has put there that you should not worry about what tomorrow brings? How do you stay in His word? Please do share with me….

New Carnival Topics & A Reminder

Please visit Sallie’s blog Two Talent Living for the new topics of the upcoming carnivals. The topics range from flowers, technology to beginnings & endings. Check them out for yourself here...

If you have never participated in a carnival, I pray and hope you will. One of my blogging buddies, Blair, has coined a new phrase; carnival blogging and hosting are “blessings on steroids“. And she is so right. Although it takes a couple of hours to put a carnival post together, but the blessing you receive is much greater than a couple of hours of work…

The next carnival is hosted by Amanda at Following an unknown Path. The deadline is Tuesday, March 28th, 3pm ESt and the topic is ‘Flowers‘. Visit Amanda’s blog for submission instructions and Sallie’s blog for submission guidelines…So, get your thinking cap on and let your fingers fly over the keyboard.

And for the reminder: The LBY Bible study will start on Monday, March 27th. You hostess on this blogging Bible study is Lauren at Created for HIS Glory…God is good – all the time!!!

Carnival of Beauty – God’s Sovereignty Through It All

“Joy is not the absence of suffering, but the presence of God” ~ E. Elliot.

What a blessing to be the hostess of the Carnival of Beauty, created by Sallie at Two Talent Living. You see, as the hostess you are ‘previewing’ the entries. I have been so blessed today with the entries, and I know you will be too…

  • There are too many laws! Some of them are just plain silly. Carol points out they’re man-made, but we obey them because the lawmakers were given authority by the sovereign Creator. Stop by She Lives and see just how complicated we’ve made life’s rules as She Follows Dumb Laws.
  • What are you looking for? Over At A Learning Life, Lori is looking for a new church home, and it’s a tough road to walk. But she knows that God already has a plan – a perfect plan – for her family’s future.
  • God’s plans are definitely different than ours, but He is a giver of good gifts and Nancy know He isn’t finished with her yet. Visit Nancy at her blog and read the inspiring post of God’s sovereignty.
  • Amanda at Following an unknown Path explains in her post that [God] does what he wants, when he wants, and we are able to trust and celebrate this because he is always both all powerful and all good.
  • What do a wool coat and a yipping dog have to do with Christ’s Lordship? Read what Heather of Mom 2 Mom Connection discovered here in The Master’s Voice.
  • God is always sovereign. When we don’t know Him, when we don’t acknowledge Him, when we deny Him, when we ignore Him; He is present in all aspects of our lives. Deb at On the Vine shares with us in her entry The Days Fashioned for Me how the adoption of their two children came about.
  • Total surrender to God isn’t always easy, but it helps to know that God is viewing our lives from way up high, like how we look down on the world from an airplane. Janna at Bread Crumbs is sharing her thoughts on God’s sovereignty in her post titled Are You Resting in God’s Hand?
  • God reminded Vicki at Windows to my Soul that He is perfectly able to carry out His purposes for her inspite of herself. Frankly, it’s a relief to know He’s in control. Read more about God’s sovereignty in her post titled He Knows the Way I Take.
  • God’s Sovereignty seems like an overwhelming topic to Blair. Her Scribblings lead her from overwhelmed to convicted as she surmises He Reigns…But Who Are We Serving?
  • Why do we tend to not surrender everything to Him at all times? Iris at Sting My Heart is questioning why she can not leave things at the cross in her post titled Leaving it at the Altar.

Thank you so much for your participation this week…
