Wahoo! It Is Carnival Day!

Can you believe it is already Wednesday again? I can’t!!!! As some of me readers know, Wednesday is Carnival Day. And you are in for such a treat this week too. Not only have 12 women submitted to the topic ‘order’, but this week’s hostess Blair has done a wonderful job putting those links together on her blog. Whew – I am just glad that I don’t have to follow her as hostess next week. So, go check out her Carnival post and while you there, check out her entire blog. Blair has some great topics and she is one of my favorite daily reads…

Have you ever wondered what this Carnival of Beauty is all about? You can either visit Sallie’s blog for guidelines – Two Talent Living, or you can email me with your questions. It really is a lot of fun. Next week’s carnival topic: My Life. And your hostess is no other than the beautiful Sallie, who actually created the Carnival of Beauty. If you didn’t participate this week, I hope to see you over at Sallie’s next week.

I also want to take the opportunity at this time to thank all my readers who left comments regarding my prayer request or have emailed me directly. I have to say, the blogging community has been a blessing to me over the past 6 months; with your encouragement and prayers.

The Battle Belongs to the Lord

To tell you the truth, I contemplated to sit this carnival out, because I thought I couldn’t come up with anything to share. But then it hit me…The word ‘order’ has more than one meaning (oh, this English language gets me all the time ~ I have not found one German word (yet) that has more than one meaning ~ really)…I thought, oh no, writing about order in the sense of ‘arrange’ – no way! Oh, don’t get me wrong, I am a very organized person, but currently there seems to be a little of ‘disarrange’ (is that even a word) in my life…

But than I found the perfect topic/subject for this particular topic ~ ha ~ I am going to share thoughts on my favorite Old Testament hero (you see, ‘order’ also means ‘command’)…
No, my OT hero is not Abraham or Moses, it is Joshua!!! Yup, the one guy who trusted God without hesitation. God commanded ~ Joshua followed…

Have you ever read the entire book of Joshua? If you haven’t, I highly recommend you do. We can learn a lot from Joshua. Just think about the story of Jericho. If God would have told you that you can bring down walls by marching around it, would you have done it? I would have questioned the method, believe me. I always have to analyze things. ‘Lord, you want me to take the ark, march around the city for seven days? Do you really think this will work?’ But not so Joshua. He commanded his people to march just as the Lord said to do. You know why Joshua did what he did? Because Joshua knew that “The Battle belongs to the Lord”.
There are many walls in my life I still have to conquer! But if I trust the Lord to be on my side to battle with/for me, I know that I can break down the walls that seem so mighty at times…And I know that you can too break down those walls!

“No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.” ~ Joshua 1:5 (NIV)

The carnival is hosted this week by my dear friend Blair at Scribblings by Blair. Please visit her blog tomorrow (Wednesday) to read the thoughts of other wonderful Christian women on the topic ‘order’. Living in His Grace ~ Eph2810

The Greatest Book in History

You wonder what I am talking about? What do you consider the greatest book in history? For me ~ it is the Bible. How can a book with such a long history have survived? Only by the hand of God. You can find a lot about the Bible online. The meaning, its history. It is amazing what you can find on the Internet ~ all the information in the world with a couple of keystrokes (I am still amazed about that)…

Many people think the Bible is just another book. I don’t think it is. How many times have people tried to ‘wipe out’ the Bible? Even to this day, entire countries try to destroy the Word of God. Take China for example. It is in most places illegal to possess a Bible. Bibles are shipped in secret. They are smuggled in by Christians. People in China actually die to have this ‘ordinary’ book in their possession. But why would they die for just an ‘ordinary’ book? Well, it is not! It is God’s guidance in this life and He leads us through it to Eternal Life.

You say how I can believe that the Bible leads to Eternal Life?! Well, because I believe, by the power of the Holy Spirit, that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God. And if I believe that, than I believe everything that is written in the Bible. It is the breath of God:

“But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” ~ 2 Timothy 3:14-17 (NIV)

How often to you read your Bible? Have you ever opened the Bible? Do you believe that the Bible is Truth? Before you answer, think about how an ‘ordinary’ book can survive thousands of years…If you have any questions regarding the Bible, but don’t want to leave a comment, please email me and I will try to answer your questions.

“To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” ~ John 8:31-33 (NIV)

Please visit Marla’s blog ‘Just Marla‘, if you would like to submit your carnival post on the topic “The Bible”. The deadline is tomorrow, February 28th, 3pm EST. I hope to see you there.
