Sharing the Truth…

Carnival Logo

It is not that I am lazy to write a new entry for this week’s Chick’s carnival, but I have written so many entries about why I like (love) to blog, I edited one of my favoirte entries about blogging….So here you go 🙂

[My blogging friend and sister in faith, Carol came up with a blogging theme for this up-coming week. Blog about blogging…Yeah, you read right. If you would like to know about it, visit her Blog, She Lives…]

Her first question to kick of the theme: Why do you blog? To be honest, it is trifold for me…

Since I am not a good one-on-one witness (with words that is) sharing my faith with others I chose the WWW to talk about His salvation. Actually it is a much bigger opportunity than my own neighborhood. Do un-believers read my blog? Not sure, because my statistics don’t tell me if my visitors are believers or un-believers. I share my walk with Him anyway. I am open as a book, meaning that I do share my struggles in my walk. Oh, you didn’t know that Christians struggle? Well this one does…You see, I start struggling if I take my eyes off of the Cross. If I don’t pour myself out every, single day and be filled by His Holy Spirit I can’t live the life God wants me to live. I am a born sinner, saved by His grace through faith. That is why I chose my URL to be Eph2810…just in case someone types these letters in the search engine. You might wonder why I chose the little creature on top to be my symbol and the title is Sting My Heart? Well that creature is a somewhat like me. Stung by the hurt of this world and pierced by His truth that I will not make it to heaven without my faith in Him…

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” ~ Matthew 28:19-20

Secondly, I like to find people from around the world that have the same belief system as I do. It is fun to hook up with my sisters in faith across the country, women how live in the Philippians, Spain, New Zealand, Australia or even my own home country, Germany. I am having a blast with that.

And lastly, because I would like to write devotions at one point in my life and my blog is my ‘training’ ground. I hope to be an encouragement to other believers who might struggle with their walk. To share that they are not alone and it is okay to struggle. That is why God wants us to be part of a community of believers. To pray for each other, to encourage each other…

Yeah, those are the reasons why I blog on Sting my Heart – blogging about my faith and the hope I have. And I keep finding new ways to pursue my passion – like a laptop I have borrowed from my Sweetheart – at least we are in the same room now…
So, why do you blog? Care to share?

Thankful Thursday – God is Good

What Sting My Heart is thankful for this week

“The LORD is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in him, and I am helped.
My heart leaps for joy
and I will give thanks to him in song.” ~ Psalm 28:7

  • I am thankful for God’s protection in traffic on Tuesday. Yeah – very thankful indeed. Right behind me, at a stop light, two cars collided, but I wasn’t hit .
  • I am thankful for my sweetheart helping out this past weekend cleaning the carpet. Since my surgery 5 years ago, I am not allowed to do heavy things (no – it is not a copout). If I overwork my back, I will pay for it for several weeks.
  • I am thankful that Christian Women Online named Sting my Heart ‘Blog of the Month – June 2006′ –! God knew that I needed some good news today.
  • I am thankful that I am healthy enough to keep my house in order and be able to work on a daily basis.

What are you thankful for today? Have a blessed day in the Lord ~ Eph2810

Bubbles in my Head

I know I have been silent for a couple of days on this blog, but I had to get a little advice from God and some encouraging words from a blogging buddy and sister in Christ…

As you I have mentioned last Saturday, I really have had a hard time adjusting to the ‘real working world’ again…It really is not a bad thing, just different. Yes, I have lived in a ‘protected’ bubble for the past 6 years and I forgot how much people are hurting. Not just physically, but also emotionally. Although not a doctor or a therapist, I think that both are connected with each other.

Many people think that they have to ‘clean up’ their act before they can be loved by God. But Jesus is telling us:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 (NIV)

And Paul continues:

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (NIV)

It might seem that I have it all together; I don’t! But you know there is a great book where I can find guidance. Everyone has heard about it, but have you picked it up lately? It has a spring that never runs dry. It is very refreshing indeed. I hope you make a Divine appointment soon. You will feel better, I promise you that. I am not saying that you won’t have any more challenges, but you have Someone you can really rely on for strength when things don’t seem to go right.

At the end of this post I have attached another one of my favorite songs: “Come, Ye Sinners”. Yes it is an old hymn (1865), just a little “spruced-up”…You can find the words here. My prayer tonight is that you might dust off the Bible on your bookshelf and just listen to Him. He loves YOU! Have a blessed Friday.

Life is a Buffet – That’s for Sure

Life is A Buffet I am not trying to score points and any favors, but Debbie Boyette’s book
“Life is a Buffet – So Save Room for Dessert” is delightful to read. Debbie, also known as Polly D, is sharing her life with her sister, Robbie Lee and mom, AC. I haven’t laughed so hard in a while. Although sharing mishaps in her and her family’s life, Debbie puts a positive spin on everything.

In my eyes, Debbie has the right attitude. Sometimes we fret over things, which in retrospect are too funny. Ever tried to fry a whole chicken in a not big enough pot? Or got stopped for speeding in a 25-mile zone? Wearing a beautiful outfit to a 50th anniversary party and not only wearing a necklace, but also wearing stewed tomatoes? Barging into a hotel room with a gentleman wearing just a bathrobe?

Debbie says:

“The sense of humor I’ve been blessed with has not made me blind to my family’s annoying or embarrassing moments, but I believe it has helped me open my eyes wider and see more than what appears on the surface. I appreciate those moments more than ever as I’ve gotten older…Take the time to view your family life with a different set of eyes. Whether it be your mother, father, brothers and sisters, or husband, wife and children, make a conscious choice to allow your vision to include the humorous side of life.”

But you know what my favorite part of this book is? Scripture! Debbie finishes each section with a Scripture verse and shares her wisdom. She ties every day life in with God’s grace that can be found in every day situation, even with the mishaps in life. Let me share a couple of my favorites with you:

“Never let yourself get to a place in your life where you think you have all the answers, or that you’re too good to take the wise counsel of a godly friend. I you become too comfortable in your lifestyle and become lazy or too relaxed to pay needed attention to spiritual details, you may find yourself heading down the wrong track…” (excerpt from “What Bus?” – page 21)

“How much time do we waste as Christians by fighting among ourselves over trivial matters? Why not channel that energy into uniting ourselves in God’s love and grace so we can show one bright light to the world?…” (excerpt from “Adding Fiber to your Diet” – page 33)

Are you hungry for some more? I highly recommend this book to all who need a little pick-me-up when life throws you a curve-ball. I even would go so far saying that you could use this book for your devotional time. The stories are short and the wisdom Debbie shares is deeply rooted in God’s grace and love for us, including Scripture verses.

But don’t take my word for it, read the entire book. I promise you that laughter is found on every page. You can purchase the book on-line as a hard copy or in e-book format here .

By the way, Debbie (Polly D) has her own blog on the web, called “Life is a Buffet”.
