A Unique Cup Give Away

Give_Away

Digi Material by Doreen Stolz

I love the cups Greg is selling over at “Mugs of Truth“. I received one from Greg for my birthday — I have my own little “Son-Rise” every morning while drinking coffee 😛 . So I thought it would be neat for you to have one too.

Mugs of Truth” is selling a very unique one right now — a Christmas edition. What happens is that the cup changes as soon as you pour in something hot. If you don’t drink coffee; tea or hot cocoa will do too.

Now you wondering what I might ask of you to win the cup? Hm – lets see…No, you don’t have to link to this post from your blog (would be nice), you don’t even have to have a blog to enter. The only thing I ask is that you answer the question below, leave a comment and you will be entered into the drawing on December 6th:

“Who were the first people to visit our Lord and Savior over 2,000 years ago?” (Hint: Read Luke 2)

Oh, and I also throw in a CD. This CD has been a blessing to me over the past month and a half. The CD is by Casting Crowns called “The Altar and the Door“.

If you have time this afternoon–I have a little devotional posted at Laced with Grace, entitled “Not always Popular“.

Blessings to you and yours this blessed season…

What a Privilege

“Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.” ~ Colossians 3:12-14 (ESV)

You know, it is a huge privilege to be part of a ever growing Christian blogging community. When I started blogging over 2 1/2 years ago, this was not the case. You had a few women who shared their faith on-line. There were always men blogging about their faith…but not many women. I am not sure what has changed, but I am loving it. If you sit down and really think about of what we are doing, sharing so openly on the world-wide-web, it leaves me speechless.

What truly is amazing to me though, is that we, as women, truly are a community of believers. We are not ‘hanging out’ our labels of denomination, but we are sharing Him, who loved us so much that He even died for us. We share faith, not doctrine. How cool is that? Isn’t that want Jesus would like to see? I think so. His Spirit dwells richly in the Christian women community. I praise Him for that.

Now you are wondering what inspired this Sunday post. An award that was given out to Sting my Heart over the past couple of weeks. Laurel, Elisa, Sharon (SWAW),Sharon (Quit Reflections), and Christian Moms Alliance saw it fit to give Sting my Heart this award:

mathetes award

“Mathetes is the Greek word for disciple, and the role of the disciple (per the Great Commission) is to make more disciples. In the spirit of this award, the rules are simple. Winners of this award must pick five other “Disciples” to pass it on to. As you pass it on, I just ask that you mention and provide links for (1) this post as the originator of the award (Dan King of management by God), (2) the person that awarded it to you, and then (3) name and sites of the five that you believe are fulfilling the role of a disciple of Christ…”

I am very honored to receive this award. I am glad that God is using my writings to encourage, disciple, and hopefully have a closer walk with our Lord and Savior.

Now to giving this award to others. Many of you have already received this award, so let me think…

  • Carol at She Lives — she is for me the Titus women Paul speaks about in his Titus 2 passage. I am glad that Carol is back blogging. Maybe a little lighter than before, but I am happy with anything she shares with us 🙂
  • E-Mom at Chrysalis — she always shares wonderful articles with us. I am thrilled that she has taken over “Marriage Mondays” (created by Christine at Fruit in Season) that will be hosted once a month.
  • Cyndi at One Day More — she is so inspiring to me with home-schooling her children; going on mission trips to share His Word with people around the world.
  • Leigh at Speaking Thru Me — she is someone who always makes me smile when I visit. Her posts are like what cheerleaders do when they ‘fire on’ the team.
  • Ruth at It’s True, sighed roo — she has such a sweet spirit. Some of her post of faith and following Him just blow me away.

There are so many other women out there that inspire me when they share their walk with Him, so I could have kept going…but I guess I have to follow the rules.

Thank you for allowing me to be part of God’s community. Be blessed today and as always…

Expectations to High?

“Lower your expectations of earth.
This isn’t heaven, so don’t expect it to be.” ~ Max Lucado

“If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.” Colossians 3:1-4 (ESV)

Are our expectations of earth really too high? Maybe I am just too naïve. I have resigned to the fact that I cannot expect too much from a worldly world, but how about my brothers and sisters in Christ? Can I no longer expect to find encouragement, spiritual leadership and/or devotion to the One who saved us out of the pit?

Over the last week, I have searched/read/pondered more than usual over Scripture passages. Even my little trusted Bible I carry everywhere could not withstand my usage—it fell apart at the seam.

As I was reading through the New Testament, I was reminded that we all fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). The problem starts when we take our eyes off of Jesus. Sometimes we think that when we are involved in ministry, we are very close to Jesus. But are we really?

Think of Peter when he wanted to walk on water. He was very close to Jesus and His ministry. What happened though when Peter got out of the boat and walked toward Jesus? He took his eyes off of His Savior and started to sink…

Barb from ‘A Chelsea Morning’ shared a wonderful devotional by Billy Graham called ‘Searching for Hope’. In this devotional Reverend Graham shared this wisdom:

“Once when I referred to the future that God is planning, a university student asked me, ‘Isn’t this a form of escapism?’ I said, ‘In a sense, yes; and before the devil gets through with this world, we are all going to be looking for exit signs!’”… Some people mistakenly think if they become Christians, God will take away all their problems. It just isn’t so. Sin still dwells within us, and Satan is still at work…(please read the entire devotion at ‘A Chelsea Morning’)

My sweet sisters, Satan is crafty. He prowls, steels, lies and will try to trip us. He is real, he is active. But so is the Word of God. Keep His Word close to your heart. Search/read/ponder, even if it means you might have to buy a new Bible…

As for our Bible teachers, pastors, deacons and others who serve in public ministry? Let us lift them up daily for them to stay close to His Word as well. As I was preparing the post, I read (two months late) that Max Lucado stepped down from ministry at his home congregation in Texas due to health reasons…

Lord of Heaven and Earth. You have warned us about the craftiness of Satan. Help us, through Your Spirit, to keep close to You and Your Word. We have been raised to new life in You and should fix our eyes only on our Lord, Jesus Christ. Yes, we do need to lower our expectation of earth, it surely is not heaven. In the precious name of Jesus ~ Amen.

Blessings on your day and as always…
