Looking ahead to 2009

Do you remember 2 years ago? Laurel hosted a marvelous “New Year’s Meditation“. Well, my sweet friend is hosting again this year. Click on the graphic on top of this post to find out more about it.

As for me, I am looking forward to 2009. 2008 has not been a great year, but I know that I needed the growing experience šŸ˜‰ . I am glad that I had Jeremiah 29:11 as ‘my verse’ for 2008. I hope that God will reveal a verse for 2009 soon.

Well, I hope you will join Laurel, me and others on January 1st to meditate on 2009.

Thankful Thursday ~ Random

ā€œSing praises to the LORD, O you his saints,
and give thanks to his holy name.ā€ ~ Psalm 30:4 (ESV)

First I want to thank the visitors last week who took part in the poll for Christmas Day. Although it was tight (22 – in favor to 17), I will be hosting Thankful Thursday on Christmas Day šŸ˜› .

Lets do something special for Christmas Day. I would like you to think back (way back for some of us – šŸ˜† ). I would love for you to share with us a Christmas from you childhood ā€“ what stayed in your mind all these yearsā€¦what you are thankful forā€¦

This week I want to share just some random thoughts, if you donā€™t mindā€¦

  • Lord, I am thankful for Your pure awesomeness. Although often I think I am worth nothing; to You I am worth everything. You sent Your One and Only Son to die for my sinsā€¦

  • Lord, thank You for my beloved. Although he does not enjoy clothes-shopping, he goes with me so I donā€™t have to go aloneā€¦

  • Lord, thank You for ā€˜clearingā€™ my calendar so I could finish up the book ā€œ3:16ā€ ā€“ what a marvelous read. Thank You for using Max Lucado to really show me what John 3:16 truly means ā€“ that you are giving everyone the same chance to believe through the gift of Your Holy Spiritā€¦

  • Lord, I am thankful for the Laced with Grace team you have assembled for 2009. We are all excited for what You will do through this ministryā€¦

  • Last, but not least, Lord I am thankful for the Thankful Thursday community this past year. I know that because of them, I have kept my focus on You and Your goodnessā€¦

Thankful Thursday ~ Praise

“I love you, O Lord, my strength.
The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,
my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised,
and I am saved from my enemies.”
~ Psalm 18:1-3 (ESV emphasis mine)

David is my favorite Old Testament follower of God. Not only did he write the most beautiful Psalms and hymns, but he stumbled in his walk with God. When someone like David stumbled, how can I except to sail through life without any bruises?

What I have learned this past year, that I praise my Lord not for my circumstances, but I am praising him in my circumstances. Does that make sense? You see, I don’t like to ‘learn’, but I know that I can lean on my Lord to see me through the learning curve šŸ˜› …

Praise was on my mind all week…so, here is my list of praise for this week:

  • Lord, I want to always have praise on my lips, because of your faithfulness. Lord, help me to always lift my eyes to the hills — you are my strength, my shield and my stronghold…

  • Lord, I praise Your name for Your message about marriage this week. I know that this particular radio program was a personal message to me. Lord, help me to be the wife You already know I can be…

  • Lord, I praise Your name for sending Your Son. Lord, help me to keep the focus on the true reason for this season…

  • Lord, I praise Your name for all the daily needs. Sometimes I forget how blessed I am — a roof over my head, reliable transportation, running water, food on the table — daily…

  • Lord, I praise Your name for my friends — near and far. Lord, I thank You that you have healed a friendship that I thought was broken forever…

Thankful Thursday ~ Thanksgiving

“And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.”
~ Colossians 3:14-15 (ESV ~ emphasis mine)

How was your Thanksgiving? I hope you were able to rest some. I know that many of you had family time. I think it is marvelous that at least once a year we slow down to be thankful around the table with extended familyā€¦

I have to admit, that praising Him, being thankful at least once a week has changed my attitude. Being grateful/thankful every single day ā€“ sharing it every week, became not an attitude, but a way of life. Donā€™t you have to agree?

Here is my list for this week of thanksgiving to share with you allā€¦

  • Thank You Lord for giving me something on a daily basis to be thankful for. You have changed my attitude toward gratitudeā€¦

  • Thank You Lord for the time I had with my beloved last week. It was wonderful to have 4 days off together. No getting up early on Friday ā€“ YEAH!!!!

  • Thank You Lord for the time we had with Daniel and Sarah last Friday. It was wonderful to go to dinner, have some time together as a familyā€¦

  • Thank You Lord for the time we had with my in-laws on Thursday. It was nice to see themā€¦

  • Thank You Lord for friends. I donā€™t know what I would do without them. They prayers, encouragements are daily reminders for Your faithfulness this side of Heavenā€¦

  • Thank You Lord for your Word. It is wonderful to have a power-verse every single week to memorize. So far (only two weeks into the program), I am doing well having the verses ‘written’ on my heartā€¦

  • Thank You Lord for Your daily provision and some extra provision that I am able to share my blessings with othersā€¦

  • Thank You Lord for Your continued blessings on Laced with Grace. When I tend to see black, You always provide what we need. Your timing is always perfect. Lord, help me to trust and donā€™t get discouragedā€¦

  • And Lord, I am thankful for this community of Thankful bloggers that have come together every week to share their blessings with others on the Internetā€¦
