Craft & Vision – “Chasing Reflections”

One of the best resources of refining my photography is the site “Craft&Vision”. David duChemin and his team of professional photographers offer some wonderful e-books about refining your craft and encourage you in your own vision.

Today, Craft & Vision released Eli Reinholdtsen’s e-book “Chasing Reflections”. Eli’s book marks the third book in the series “The Print & The Process”. I am totally mesmerized by her timing of photographing reflections. I could look for hours at one of photographs, seeing new things every time. What I also like is that Eli is sharing how she took each photo, including F-stops, ISO and much more.

You can purchase the e-book in two forms: PDF or iPad. For the first four days only, if you use the promotional code REFLECT4 when you checkout, you can have the PDF version of Chasing Reflections for only $4 OR use the code REFLECT20 to get 20% off when you buy 5 or more PDF e-books from the Craft & Vision collection. These codes expire at 11:59pm PST August 1, 2010.

Thankful Thursday ~ Long Weekends

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
~ Colossians 3:16 (ESV)

Oh, there are so many things to be thankful for each day…I am thankful for the roof over our heads, running water, food…

This week I want to especially share my thankfulness for the past long weekend. My body needed it. I have been crazy busy at work. I am looking forward to the day I retire πŸ˜† …My body is too old to have such a hectic schedule.

This past weekend, we didn’t do too much; just kicking up our feet, read, watch old movies. On Sunday afternoon we took a trip downtown Phoenix. Phoenix was blessed to have a guest exhibition of Ansel Adams’ photography. This man was so amazing. Adams’ lifework is still a great inspiration for photographers around the world πŸ˜› . If you ever have the chance to view his photos in a gallery, make time for it.

When looking at Adams’ photos on Sunday, I wanted to just pack up my camera and travel the world…maybe one day God allows me to follow that dream πŸ˜‰ …

What are you thankful for this week? Please share with us by leaving a link to your Thankful Thursday post below.

Thank you for stopping in. Remember: take time to thank God for the beauty of nature…stop and smell the roses as they say.

In Honor Of & The Winners

“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.” ~ Genesis 20:12 (ESV – emphasis mine)

Today, April 17th, would have been my dad’s 72nd birthday if he would not have passed away in 1991. In 2006 I wrote a tribute to my dad; you can read it here if you like.

My earthly father had much influence on who I am today. I was blessed that he didn’t shy away to share God’s love and truth with us kids. Yes, my dad was strict with me, but I am thankful for that. He taught me right from wrong. He taught me that life is not always fair; but if you trust God, all will work out. He was right – life is not fair, sometimes it is hard to keep going without getting too discouraged.

I guess that why the photography-book project is so close to my heart. To honor God and my earthly father. Both have (had) great influence in my walk of faith. The little detour I took when I was younger pained both, God and my dad. I often wish that my dad could see who I am today (Dad I am so sorry for the things I did and said – I love you!)…I pray that the book will glorify my Heavenly Father and would have made my earthly father proud.

And now to the two winners. I had a hard time choosing the title for the book, because all of them were perfectΒ  (thank you all who suggested a title). I ended up choosing Debbie’s (author of “Heart Choices“) suggestion “Fill me to Overflowing”. Debbie – I will send you a hard-copy as soon as I have it published (hopefully by May 20th). The second winner of a soft-copy comes from this post. The winner was chosen by Random.Org πŸ˜‰ :

Congratulations to Melanie from The Fruits of the Spirit for winning a soft-copy of the soon to be published book.

Thank you for stopping by today. Remember: trust God for today, tomorrow and especially life ever-lasting.

Have a blessed Sunday,
