Jesus
…a favorite Christmas song?
As we are in the last days before Christmas 2005, all radio stations are playing Christmas music. From secular to religious ones. Is there a song that you truly like to sing from the bottom of your heart? Please do share.
I actually have two favorites I love to sing at Christmas: “What Child is This” Mercy Me’s rendition, and “Do you Hear What I hear” Third Day’s rendition. I know, strange that I like old hymns as a contemporary version; but if you knew me, you’ll understand – lol. Check out the list Blest with Sons put up (that great lady is unstoppable posting – I had to page through a lot of pages to find that post again).

Just a little side note. Thanks to Janice from Mercy And Percy, part of my article Weihnachten vs. Christmas is published on Crossmaps Columns. Janice thank you so much. It is a great honor to be mentioned on this great Christian on-line resource.

  1. Mh, I don’t know… I have a strange relation with Christmas: sometimes it makes me sad. I remember the past and this is deleterious for me.
However I think my favourite Christams song is “Tu scendi dalle stelle” (I don’t know if exists also an English version!)…

Thank for your visit to my blog. I’ve linked you! And sorry for my bad English é.è

  2. Thank you Utenzi for sharing your favorite Christmas song. “Silent Night” is a great one too. We sing one verse always in German on Christmas Eve at my church. Brings back great memories.

Thank you ELo for stopping by again. I am sad to hear that Christmas sometimes makes you sad. I did a search on the web for “Tu scendi dalle stelle” and found the English words for it. That is a very beautiful song – thank you for sharing.I’ll download the words to it. – BTW you English is excellent :).

  3. “Good King Wenceslaus”, “Joy to the World” and “O Come, All Ye Faithful”.

I have a special fondness for “O Come, All Ye Faithful” because I can sing it in Latin, which is astoundingly beautiful.

“Adeste Fideles, le ti trium fantes, venite, venite in Bethlehem.”

I don’t care for “Silent Night” because the night is not Holy–only Christ is Holy.

I don’t like it when songs confuse theology and get it mixed up and backwards.

  4. Little Drummer Boy is one of my all time favorites. Mary Did You Know is awesome to. Does Grandma got Ran Over by a Reindeer count? lol
    Have a very merry Christmas,

  5. Hehe – you are funny Joe. I really enjoy reading your blog a lot. You have some great posts.
I saw that you like Third Day as well – they are great!

  6. What Child is This is also my favorite Christmas carol. And I also love the old carols redone by contemporary groups. And Third Day just so happens to be my favorite…and Mercy Me is not far behind!

  7. I like to sing “O come let us adore Him” all year round.

Have you ever noticed that both “Silent Night” and “Oh Holy Night” shift the focus from worshipping Christ to recognizing the night He was born? Sometimes I wonder if that is why Silent Night is played in department stores.
