This week we are finally talking about God – about His prints in our life. Heather asked us to share some “God Moments”. One thing I had mentioned to Heather is that God changes my attitude every single morning. Some mornings I really don’t feel ready to encounter the world, but He helps me through the day by changing my perspective on things. He shows me the world through His eyes. This said, I want to share with you a particular incident. When He guided my fingers over the keyboard in an almost hopeless situation…
I have worked with many accounting programs in many settings over the years. When I worked for the church, our old office was ‘open’ to all people, especially on Sunday mornings. My computer was used by the counting team in order to record Sunday’s offerings. My computer had a partition that was only accessible through a specific password and even the accounting software had its own password. Since that computer was used by many on Sundays (and believe me, not only for church business I later found out), the password protection was necessary.
One Monday morning, I wanted to access the accounting program and it wouldn’t let me in. I remembered that I had changed the password just the Friday before, but didn’t write it down (no use writing down a password – right?!?). I tried all my usual passwords, but none of them would let me into the program. I started to panic, because it was close to month-end — I had to get the numbers together for the mission directors. I kept trying, but with no success. So before I totally went crazy, I closed my eyes and prayed: “God, I really need to get into this program. I don’t want people to get mad at me. Please – I trust you. Guide my fingers – In Jesus’ name – Amen”. I kept my eyes closed, my fingers on the keyboard in position to type. I typed, hit the enter key. I was afraid to open my eyes, so I only open one – squinting at the screen. Can you guess. Yes – there were my spread sheets right in front of me. All I could say, between sobs, “Thank You”…
To this day, I have no clue that the password was (I changed the password after I got in ) — but He knew it. What I have learned from trusting Him with my little stuff is that I can even more so trust Him with my big stuff! He will guide me (or my hands) through this life until I see Him face to face…
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” ~ Deuteronomy 31:6 (NIV)

Amen!! I enjoyed reading this.
Woah! Excellent, Iris! You know what else is cool? My “Shape of Your Faith” post involved typing with my eyes closed, too!
Oh I love stories like that!!!!!!
This was awesome Iris. Such a great story of how God works. The best thing about all these stories is bein able to see each of them as a facet of a wonderful, loing God who knows us and exactly what we need. Praise the Lord.
Iris, I love the way you see Him, how you testify to His faithfulness in your own life. Your posts, experiences, always, ALWAYS encourage me. That’s a gift dear friend.
