“And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, and she exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! And why is this granted to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For behold, when the sound of your greeting came to my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.”” ~ Luke 1:41-45 (ESV)
As we are preparing for Christmas is seems like we are getting less joyous, certainly are not leaping for joy–we are too tired…
You can read the rest of my little devotion over at Laced with Grace. I hope to see you there 😛 …
Blessings on your day and as always…
It is good to read this today, about Joy. It happens to be something that’s on my mind just now. Richard Foster notes that joy encircles the life of Christ, in that his birth was heralded by angelic joy and his departure was marked by a promise of joy. Indeed, you found Joy even before His birth, in this little passage! It makes me realize that if I am without Joy, then that is actually a spiritual issue, because without Joy I am without a hallmark of Christ.

Don’t you just love this verse! What confirmation. What rejoicing between these two women generations apart! Hallelujah!
Wonderful reminder.
Iris, I read the devotion on the other page and I must say once again that you are very talented adn I appreciate coming here to be inspired and reminded by you of God’s Word. I will hold onto the thought of “leaping for joy” today…..and make it my task to focus on the baby Jesus today.
