I really thought about this post twice before writing it. I usually don’t write things that bother me here on Sting my Heart, but this topic, where else would I write about it?
Sunday, my Sweetheart and I watched the news on CNN (yeah, we try to watch the news at least once a week). I almost fell out of my chair hearing about a city in Michigan (I think) called Hell. They planned a huge festival for today because of the date being oh so special today. They even printed T-Shirts for this event.
Okay, so either the city officials are totally ignorant or don’t know any better. Do you really think it is a great thing to spend eternity in Hell? Living in Arizona, I tell you it is not fun to be hot all the time. Or do you think Hell doesn’t exists? For your information, it does. And.it.is.not.fun.and.games.
I am just glad that we have a great date next year and I hope that the Christian community thinks about it to maybe have a festival too. Viva
YIKES! I live in Michigan and had not heard of the “Hell” city here. Probably just as well. I just read on your sister and her husband. I am sorry. It stinks. It’s sin that seeps in and sweeps our lives away at times, but God is there ready to rescue. Life is hard, but God is good.
Unfortunately, the belief that Hell actually exist is apparently missing in the city regulators. Many choose not to believe in Hell. That, and also the desire for ‘tourism’ for the proposed celebration probably helped this ‘thing’ get established. Disgusting. Stay in prayer today. But God is not ‘shaken’…just disgusted, I’m sure! Great idea for next year, btw!!! My blog title isn’t the url given. It’s HisGraceAbounds, should ya want to ‘see me’ sometime! Love the uniqueness of this blog.
Hi!
I couldn’t agree with you more! I heard the same news on the radio yesterday–all day–like this was something that was funny and worth repeating. Interesting how society refers to Hell, makes the association, but doesn’t believe in it. Jokes about it! It will be interesting to see what is done about 7/7/7! Good point!
And BTW: I linked you, not as challenging…but as a blog that challenges others to think, to live better, to smile! Silly!
I’ll be back on June 15th! THANKS!
Diane
P.S..
Of course, I’llbe back BEFORE June 15th as well!
🙂 Diane
Wow….so sad that they actually celebrated. So sad too, that some won’t be celebrating when they get there.
Our Chicago news focused on the grafiti that was sprayed all around on local churches. I can’t even imagine how a person could spray those 6’s on a church and not feel something totally depraved inside themselves. Just goes to show how we really DO need to pray so much more!
Oh my! I never heard about that. I too, am confused! Why would anyone play around about that?
Yeah, that whole thing has been bothering me too. Everywhere I look there’s some festival, party, show in honor of that date because of those numbers. It is really making me question the ethics and the very foundation of our society. I know, duh, right? 🙂
