may not understand at the time.”
~ Oswald Chambers~
I have to say that one of my all time favorite Bible studies was Beth Moore’s study “Believing God“. I am actually considering doing the study again.
Beth had us say a pledge before every session:
1. God is who He says He is!
2. God can do what He says He can do!
3. I am who God says I am!
4. I can do all things through Christ!
5. God’s Word is alive and active in me!
The one statement that really stuck with me over the years is the first one: “God is who He says He is!” God promised us to never leave us or forsake us. That is a comfort to me. There have been many challenges in my life, and I am sure there will be more down the road before I enter into glory with Him. But knowing that God always is true to His Word, I have no fear. He will stand beside me — He will even carry me if I can no longer run the race that is set before me.
Allow me to share I prayer I have written during the study…
“Lord, even though mountains are shaken and hills are removed, Your unfailing love for me will not be shaken. You are not taken Your covenant of peace from me, because You have compassion on me. Thank You Lord for Your faithfulness and Your peace, a peace that surpasses all human understanding ~ In Jesus precious name ~ Amen”.
Faith for me, is believing God …trusting Him to see me through my weak moments and rejoice over me when I am standing strong…
“Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. We live by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.” ~ 2 Corinthians 5:6-8 (NIV)
AMEN. Excellent post, Iris.
Wonderful post Iris! Believing God is the Beth Moore study I hope to do next year. I’ll be teaching the Patriarchs in January, then maybe I can do it. Your post makes me want to start now!
Oh I need to do that study again. 🙂 Thanks!
I will be participating in that Bible Study in January…I cannot wait…..Joel Osteen says that prayer before each service but he says “This is my Bible…I can do what it says I can do” etc…. what an awesome God.
I missed that study, but have the hardback book…I love your post! God is God! AMEN! And because of that, we are to have faith in Him and trust Him. Thanks for sharing!
You are the hostess with the mostest this week!
You are right that the BIG question is: Is God who He says He is? But if He isn’t, then life, the universe and everything make no sense.
I love that book! It’s so true; and that wordage hit me hard as well… God IS who he says he is! End of story!
I love that God is who He says He is, not who we make Him out to be based on our own limite perceptions and wisdom.
Lovely post, Iris!
That is an interesting Bible study. I learned a lot. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Oh, Iris, this is so beautiful and encouraging. Thank you. I love your prayer. Isn’t God good to us? I’m glad to see that Oswald Chamber’s quote was used this week. He always points me back to the Lord in all my struggles.
Just wanted to let you know that my computer is messed up. Although I have this laptop as backup, I’ll probably just use the next few days to cook and clean. Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I’m so blessed by our friendship!
hugs,
Vicki
What a great quote you picked, Iris! I enjoyed this quote and seeing what all the ladies wrote about. Thank you for your sharing. It was very encouraging.
Iris, it was such a blessing that you were able to host this today. I had such a full day, I didn’t get in until 4:00. Madison got glasses today and while we were at the mall, we sat with Santa for a while.
Your prayer is so beautiful!
Oh what a beautiful prayer and the perfect verse! Thank you so much for hosting this round of the CWO IOW this week.
Wonderful post Iris. I like what Beth Moore said. I bet it was an excellent study. God Bless.
I posted mine. ;D Happy Thanksgiving to you too.
Wonderful post! I especially love the pledge.
I think it is a very nice thought to nice that i would say that many people need to heard it, because it really gives us faith and that is what we can’t forget God is.
And is just like the Example 4and 5 I can do all things through Christ!,and God’s Word is alive and active in me!.
I am very thankfull for this opportunity to hear something that really make me fell that i am not alone.
