What Sting My Heart is thankful for this week

“The Lord’s promises are pure, like silver refined in a furnace, purified seven times over.” ~ Psalm 12:6 (NLT)

  • I am thankful that God’s promises are pure, pure like silver as the above passage tells us. It is wonderful to be able to rely on Him…
  • I am thankful for Shamus’ and Heather’s new site ‘The Narrow Gate‘ which will help me to stay on task with my Bible reading plan for this year. You see, it is all about accountability…
  • I am thankful that I am allowed to host “In Other Words” this upcoming Tuesday. I chose a quote from Liz Curtis Higgs’ book “Embrace Grace“. You can pick it up at CWO tomorrow, Friday, January 5th. I hope you will like it as much as I do. I think that God’s grace will be a ‘theme’ for me this year – I know, it should always be, but we seem to forget (okay I forget) that His grace is amazing…
  • I am thankful that my Sweetheart helps me at night to clean up the kitchen. BTW – we have been together for 25 years. We met on January 2nd 1982…
  • I am thankful that I have health and dental insurance again. It was a long time coming…

What are you thankful for this week? Do you have promises to hold on to? I would love to hear from you today .

Blessings on your day and as always…

  1. I’m kind of serious this morning, well, pensive, anyway. Most of the time I’m naturally “thankful”. Whether it was taught from an early age, or simply wired into my DNA, I’m grateful for life, and all the good, bad and in between that goes with it. This morning, as I slow down enough to think about your question, two things popped into my mind:

I’m thankful that my children are thankful little creatures (I don’t have to prompt them to tell “you” thanks for something you’ve done for or given to them), and I’m thankful that difficult times in life are sometimes our best teachers.

And I guess a third kind of follow up to this, is I’m thankful God has given me the vision to see life this way :).

  2. I’m thankful for the complexity and beauty of God’s creation (including humanity)… and how it speaks of His immeasurable wisdom, love, and poetic spirit.

  3. Yey for health and dental insurance! And Congratulations, 25 years! Wow, I have 19 years to catch up with you, but then you’ll still be ahead, lol.

Lovely things to be thankful for, especially your thoughts on the Psalm verse, what a wonderful God!

  4. I look forward to reading what you have to say about Liz Curtis Higgs’ quote. (I heard her speak at a writer’s conference and she’s such an outgoing, funny person! She had just published “Bad Girls of the Bible.”) BTW, I didn’t realize the hosts of In Other Words get to choose the quote!

Today, I’m thankful for the gift of language and writing. :~)

  5. Wow, I feel like Sissy. I still don’t believe it was thursday. Great list today Iris. Thanks for the plug on the Narrow Gate. Looking forward to the In Other Words, impressed with the 25 years, thrilled about the insurance. And God’s promises, what an amazin blessing we bear.
