Antique

Since TNChick started the Photo Hunt on Saturdays, I started taking my camera to work…Just in case I find something for the hunt. I was a little down this week, because I looked around the house and we don’t have anything antique around here. When we left Germany in 1991, we pretty much just took what we really needed! Very expensive to move overseas – believe me!

Anyway, long story short. This old gas-pump is located in a hallway at our Corporate office. When I left today I saw it and a huge 😀 came over my face…I had something (somewhat) antique to contribute for this week’s hunt….Hope you enjoy it.

Have a wonderful, blessed Saturday…

  1. Those are so cool, I remember being on the road with family and everytime I would see something even remotely like that I would hollar to the driver STOP!!!
I had to have a photo of it…and you know I don’t have one of those photo’s – bummer.. Thanks for posting – cool shot!
I posted an old one as well – family heirloom.

  2. That is really cool. I’m sure there were wonderful things in Germany… our history here is so young compared to Eruope. When we visited Austria and Italy, the paintings, artifacts and even the buildings were standing from hundreds of years ago. And I thought the gravestones in Williamsburg were old.
This is going to be an interesting theme.

  3. It’s really exciting to find the perfect subject each week. That old gas pump looks really nice and old. I love the nice red color too. Thanks for sharing.

  4. I have often wondered what pumping gas from one of these pumps would have been like. Great shot and you got lucky to find something that you could use! I too struggled and came up with something to use.

I hope you are having a great weekend!

  5. Yep, moving overseas is expensive! Even though the Canadian Forces paid for our move, we still left a lot of stuff in storage in Canada (which the Canadian Forces is also paying for, since we’ll be posted back to Canada in 2009.)

Anyhow, onto the theme. What a very cool old gas pump! Glad you found a suitable item for this week’s theme. 🙂

  6. Oh Iris…that’s wonderful! Somewhere in my collection I have a picture of a gas station that had pumps like that in front. When we first moved to the area, we found it on one of our rides and it had two old pumps in front but I didn’t have a camera. When I went back, the pumps were GONE! Somebody must have needed the money! Great share. Thanks for stopping by.

    Have a wonderful weekend.

  7. I think this is a marvelous contribution! There is a segment on HGTV that they do about people and their collections and one gentleman collected all these old gas pumps and gas station paraphanelia. I loved it!! Hmmmm…I will have to peek ahead now and see about the upcoming Saturdays!!! I need to also keep in the habit of carrying my camera with me…as that goat on top of the hay bale was not there yesterday!!!!

  8. Great idea about carrying your camera with you! I always seem to end up scrambling around at the end of the week trying to find something that I can scan into my computer from my various photo albums!

  9. Oh Iris, I’m so sorry you had to leave so much of your history behind in Germany. Just think, you are starting a collection of your own that you’ll be able to pass on to your grandbabies some day.

    Blessings-
    Jennifer

  10. I’m glad you spotted it, because it’s a really neat one 🙂 We saw an old gas station on someones property when we were in Ohio in 2005, that was really cool! It looked like a still functioning one.
