~ George MacDonald~
When I look at the countless gifts God has blessed me with over the years — I can only smile. Of course there have been times that were hurtful and sorrowful, but if I look at the big picture — I am very blessed. Being raised in a loving home, having a wonderful and supportive family, a wonderful son, awesome friends…But two huge gift stand out.
The first gift is my Lord and Savior. When I think about His love for me, it gives me goose-bumps. I just listened to a sermon this past weekend about what Christ went through to take up my sin so that I can spend eternity with Him — indescribable. I have a little cross hanging from my mirror in my car. It has two nails — bound together with a little leather twine. This little cross reminds me every time when I sit in my car “He took those nails for me”…You see I don’t want to forget how He suffered for me — not one single day of my life!
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. ~ Ephesians 2:8-10 – emphasis mine (ESV)
The second gift is my husband — lover, friend and confidant. We can talk about every thing. We trust each other. My favorite part of the day is when we go to bed…He just takes me in his arms and day just falls away from me. What blessing it is to have a partner in my life who loves me even when I am grumpy…
Thinking about all the numerous gifts, it is time for me to start my list of One Thousand Gifts – in no particular order…
1. The Cross 2. my sweetheart 3. son 4. love 5. family 6. friends 7. sunrises 8. sunsets 9. flowers 10. coffee 11. home 12. bed…
When I think about His love for me, it gives me goose-bumps.
That is so cute, Iris!
Sometimes I just stop and think about his love and I am just overwhelmed and amazed. I don’t get goose-bumps but I do get tears.
Iris, that is so romantic. I feel so safe in the arms of God and secondly my husband. 🙂
Great reminders.
Isn’t it amazing how quickly these gifts add up 😉
How great His gifts are, both big and small! You certainly are blessed, as are WE by YOU!
Lovely Iris, and so true. He is the greatest Gift we have.
