Okay, so I started out with Blogger last year (because it was free ). But than I got the taste for WP through their ‘Free Multi Blog Site’. I just loved it…I like smilies – Yes.I.Do.!

But that was not the main reason why I tried WP. I got tiered of always depending on Blogger, people could not comment or I couldn’t post. I am not bashing Blogger – it served me well. But it was very frustrating at times. But then again – it is a free blogging tool and a lot of people don’t want to make the commitment to pay for blogging service. I was one of them. For one thing, I didn’t know if I would continue with it (and at the start I didn’t). But I tasted the world of blogging, the connection you make with people from around the world. It was great.

Blogger kept giving me fits. Not able to post or receive comments. So I looked around for a hosting service. And I found a great one; and they support WP. I have mega space on it, the customer service is great and I am not depending on a free blogging platform – YEAH! And I have my smilies . I pay $5/month (wait a minute they just went down with their price – $4.95/month)…So, if you are interested, let me know in the comment section and I will give you more detailed information.

Blest had a great post on Monday about comments and how she handles comments. Everyone who blogs want people to read their thoughts, but we like (no we love – at least I do) comments. I think that is why I stopped blogging last summer, because no one read my blog (or didn’t leave comments). I tried traffic sites (yeah – I picked up some personal reads from there, like Blest and Vicki). But you really had to search with those traffic sites and I didn’t had that much time to spare…So, how do you get ‘connected’? I did a lot of net-working. I followed the links on blogs I liked. I started reading and left comments. I joined the Carnival of Beauty (which I truly miss – blessings to you, Sallie). And I kept going to the blogs that left comments here. Yeah – you know, I do visit you when you leave a comment – maybe not the same day, but eventually I’ll make my rounds. I used to comment back on my blog and thanking visitors for their visits. But now it is mostly back-visits or I respond directly via email to a comment. I like the ‘personal’ connection to my visitors. I said in Blest’s comment section (on comments) that I used to get sad not receiving comments, but not any more. I just blog and if someone out there (just one person) was blessed with the words I wrote on Sting my Heart, that is enough for me. I use this tool to reach out and that is why I am here.

  1. That’s funny. There was a paragraph in my post for today about how I found you on BlogExplosion… it got edited out, though. I’m glad we found each other! And I’m glad you’re still blogging. Love ya Iris!!

  2. I do the same thing, Iris. If someone leaves a comment, I try to visit their blog. If I don’t get to it and they leave another comment another day, I make them priority. It’s rare, but occasionally someone does slip through.

I also notice I stop visiting a blog if I haven’t seen that blogger at She Lives in a while. I don’t intend for that to happen, but it does – it’s like out of sight/out of mind, you know?

Comments are as important to a blogger as encouraging words are to a singer or artist or any person who pours their heart into something. We just like to know someone cares enough to say they like it – or that they don’t. Either way, I’m good.

Thanks for shring your thoiughts for today’s 7 Days.

  3. I’ve been out of circulation for a while. I’ve always liked commenting on your blog Iris – you have a welcoming feel here. I like what you have to say too. I agree about using the resources available. The Christian Carnival is another good one to send posts too. It’s run by Wittenberg gate (there’s a link to her in my sdiebar and she has a link on her sidebar about the Christian Carnival. You just send in your best/favourite post from the week.

  4. I would appreciate–any information you have on switching servers. Blogger has been a little unpredictable of late….and I don’t even know how to begin the search. You’re the best!

  5. Iris!!! You’re tempting me to pay for my blog! arrrg. I want more services so, but my husband doesn’t think it’s necessary. I can’t do trackbacks or pings or any of those cool things with my free angelfire blog. I will have to pray about this and beg ask Him if I should do that.

    Love ya

  6. Iris, I love coming here – you are so upbeat and encouraging. This was a terrific post – funny our our blogs have changed (location wise). Mine used to be hosted on a server in my living room lol.

Keep on bloggin’ girl – if you had quit when you weren’t getting comments…I’d have missed the opportunity to get to know you. Oh, and I think Sallie is planning to start the COB back up in the future – she’s moved locations.

  7. I love WP. Glad you made the change. I just posted about blogger being a booger today! Hope your sister is doing okay.

    Yours In Christ,

  8. Iris, you hit the nail on the head with this one. While many of us are not writing for approval of others or the comments, they are SO much appreciated!!! Have a great day!

  9. I love to comment! It makes blogging a dialogue rather than a monologue. So often, when I read a book, I want to sit down and write the author what I thought. (I never do.) With blogging, I can do that instantly! Thanks for your thoughts. I’ve enjoyed reading the other comments here too… almost like a “group discussion.”
