As my friend TN pointed out, I missed posting about our special day. Yes, we are now married 23 years and 1 day :smile:.
We were quite young when we married (both 22) and we still love each other. I would even go as far as saying we love each other more than when we first met. We met in a (yes I am going to say it) bar. My Sweetheart was stationed in Bremerhaven, my hometown in Germany, one day after he turned 21. What caught my eye were his blue eyes and his wonderful smile (yeah – he was happy that he finally turned 21 – or was it because he saw me?). We were engaged for a short while and got married on May 20th, 1983. Actually we have two anniversaries. One on the 20th (our civil wedding) and the 21st was our wedding in a Lutheran Church (indepentent Lutheran Church). Yeah – it is a little different in Germany. The church wedding does not count as your legal wedding – so it really is more like a blessing. The nice thing was, that my Sweetheart’s parents, his sister with her baby and his brother flew in from the States. The fun part was that the day before our legal wedding, I met my in-laws for the first time. There was no time for my in-laws to get to know me or object against the choice my Sweetheart had made :grin:.

We have 2 anniversaries, too. Civil and church weddings exactly one year apart. So, we never really know how long we’ve been married!

Oh, Iris!! You two are so beautiful….brings a tear to my eye. Love the photo–such cherished memories. And hey, it doesn’t matter where you met, look what God has done with the two of you! I met my hubby in the hospital. I was his nurse, believe it or not. When he got well and went home, he looked me up and asked me out for a date! The rest is history.
