Does this happen to you too? You hear a song first thing in the morning and it gets stuck in your head for the rest of the day. It happened to me yesterday driving to work. I am sure you have heard “I’ll Fly Away“, written by Albert E. Brumley in 1929 (didn’t know it was that old of a song).
Anyway, the radio station I am listening to has some great music – mostly well known hymns/songs a little ‘spruced up’ – you know – adding a little tambourine and bassline into it. So, the radio station has been playing the new version “I’ll Fly away” by Jars of Clay (you can listen to it on their site – so click the link if you are interested and would like to hear it). Well, the song is still stuck in my head this morning…and I am sure I will be singing it for the rest of the day….
“For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.”
~ 1 Thessalonians 4:17-18 NIV
Looking forward meeting up with you in the air. Have a blessed Friday .
Morning Iris! The original version of that song is good; oh no, now I’m singing it! I’m headed over to Jars of Clay to hear their version.
Have a blessed weekend!
Oh WOW, that’s awesome! I heard them live many, many years ago! Oh yea, your link doesn’t work…just wanted you to know.
Thanks for sharing this, Iris. It gave me something awesome to think and smile about today. What a way to “fly”! 🙂
Fantastic clouds!!
I love this song for a few reasons. One of them because it is a great song..lol
One is because I remember singing it in church as a child. Another is that it will forever remind me of my Grandmother. She never sings along because she doesn’t like her voice I guess, but this one she will sing along to. It always makes me smile when I hear this one. Great song…. I love Jars of Clay.. I really like ” God will lift up your head” too.
I will fly away oh Glory… I will fly away! K, now it’s stuck in my head. I really like Jars of Clay, I’ll have to get that one.
Jars of Clay did a great job of up dating, “I’ll Fly Away,” didn’t they? I love it.
And I love you for sticking it in my head. I’ll be singing it for the rest of the day!
