“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” ~ Jeremiah 29:11 (ESV)

As I have mentioned before, I don’t make new years resolutions anymore. Does it mean that I don’t have plans, dreams, desires for this year? By no means. So here is my list of 8 for 2008:

  • Not pressing ahead of the Lord, but waiting on Him. I want to intentionally be still before Him. I want to know His plans and follow Him obediently.
  • Continue with my morning routine to read my Bible, pray and get ready for the day. Without His food in the morning my days usually go not well.
  • Continue scanning photos of our son. Going through the photos over the past three months brought back great memories. Thank you Lord for allowing us to raise a son.
  • Expending on Laced with Grace. Not sure where the Lord will lead, but I am ready for what ever it is.
  • Stop and listen to hurting people. Praying for them, pointing to the One who is willing to heal their hurts.
  • Share my blessings with others through ‘RAK’s’ (random acts of kindness).
  • Writing down thoughts in my little book for maybe one day the Lord with open a door to publish a small devotional book.
  • To truly live intentionally. To capture the beauty around me and not rush through life. Take one day at a time – I know I am in Good Hands.

As I was reading Scripture today, I came across another verse that goes well with ‘my’ Scripture passage of 2008…

“Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” ~ Psalm 37:4

Yes Lord, I am listening, I am Yours. Help my to be still before You this year. Help me to hear You loud and clear. In the precious name of Jesus ~ Amen.

Thank you for stopping by today – blessings on your day and always.

  1. Wonderful list, Iris. I love the RAK! And I am excited by us both receiving Psalm 37:4 from the Lord for our 8 in 2008. Very, cool!

    Blessings, extravagantly,
    Elisa

  2. Living intentionally — sounds easy enough, but I think that’s probably the biggest challenge for all of us! I need to specifically include some RAKs as well. This is a wonderful list.

  4. The stop and listen to hurting people etc. spoke to me. We really need to listen and be aware of what is going on around us and with people that God puts in our path. Thanks for that reminder…

  6. You have a nice list of “plans, dreams and desires” here! (Lol, I don’t make New Year’s resolutions either.)

How about if you self-publish a nice devotional guide with the title, “Sting My Heart?” I’ll bet you’d have a ready audience/market… right here! :~D

  7. Iris – I couldn’t think of anything better than the eight things you’ve written. They line up so much with what I want for my life too. I’m afraid I’ve already blown it in so many ways, but I’m determined not to dwell on my failures for a change.
I’m looking forward to what God will do in our lives this coming year.

  8. These are wonderful goals. I particularly liked the one about stopping to listen to hurting people. That’s what it’s all about isn’t it?

  9. Great list! I liked the part about “wait upon the Lord” that’s one of my favorite scriptures… with such a wonderful promise.

Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

  10. Oh, your #1 so speaks to my heart for that is exactly what I want to learn this year! What a great list after it too! My first verse to learn was Is 26:3 “You will keep in perfect peace, him (her) whose mind is steadfast, because he (she) trust in You.! There I did it!
