You know, I have noticed lately that I have some quirks that really start to bother me. One in particular: When I load the dishwasher, everything has to be sorted. The same kind of plates with each other, the knives in one slot, so the forks, spoons…

Does it really make a difference where in the world I put the plates and other dirty dishes in the dishwasher? I tell you, when my guys put dirty dishes in the dishwasher and they are not in the place they should be, I take them back out…Really, like I have nothing better to do…

Do you have quirks that start to annoy you? Please do share, so I don’t feel so lonely…

Speaking of bonds we have…Check out my post on CWO’s Blog today, entitled “The Bond we Have…“. It is in connection with “In Other Words”…Hope to see you there and on CWO’s Enzine.

  1. Oh, i have tons of quirks…. it’s scary… haha! For one, i can’t stand seeing straw or chopstick wrappers left on top of a table. If someone or myself would open a new drinking straw or a new pair of wooden take-out chopsticks, I would have to pick it up, and tie a knot on the wrapper, over and over, and over, until the paper wrapper is a rolled-up knot of paper. Then I’ll have to hide it underneath my plate so that i don’t see it anymore!!! Isn’t that just nuts? It drives my hubby nuts too, hehehe.

  2. I do the same thing with the dishwasher. One of my other quirks is liking to have the major items in the refrigerator in the same place. It helps to be able to find things when you know basically where they are supposed to be (thus avoiding calling to me in another room, “Do you know where the [whatever] is?”) Plus, if we have a partial carton of milk, and someone unloading groceries just sets the new carton any where other than behind the old one, it seems invariably the next person getting milk will open the NEW one. I really do have my reasons, though my family thinks I’m just quirky. 😀

  3. I am sure I have several quirks but my brain isn’t in the thinking mode as of yet. *s*

I visited your The Bond We Have and I have a very dear, wonderful online friend just like that & have had the pleasure of meeting her a few times.

  4. Gosh, if my husband was here, he’d help me think of a gazillion. I’m quirky about loading the dishwasher, too, but it is different from how you do it. Ooooo, I just thought of one. When I eat breakfast, my beverages depend on what I’m eating. Milk if it’s pancakes, french toast or waffles, juice if it’s eggs and bacon. And although I have a LOVE THANG with coffee, I prefer to drink it alone, never with food. The thought of coffee and doughnuts sends me over the edge.

Is this the kind of thing you’re thinking about? 🙂

  5. I load my dishwasher a certain way… I thought it was just bein’ picky LOL There are other things too…

I haven’t been able to get online all morning! Insane!

  6. When my husband and I were first dating, a guy friend of his helped out with the dishes after dinner, and he did the same thing as you. To tell you the truth, I was VERY impressed. I love that level of orderliness–which is so hard for me to achieve myself. That guy is now a high earning chemist!

My quirks? I don’t like the wind blowing in my face when all the windows are down in the car. (My hair sticks to my lipstick and that’s annoying.) During the summer, I am forever asking my husband to roll up his window. He’s balding with no hair issues! Fortunately, he’s very patient with me, and he rolls down a back window instead. (Why doesn’t he remember to do that first?) *-)

  7. My husband does the dishwasher thing just like you, Iris. What I’ve found is that it’s actually easier to put the dishes away after he’s had his shot at getting everything arranged. So, yes! Although it may not have much impact on world peace, it does make a little difference in day-to-day life.

Quirks…I can’t go to bed unless the kitchen is clean. And it bothers me to take a shower if my bed isn’t made. See? Everyone has their little bits of weirdness. Otherwise the world would be so ho-hum!

  8. I’m not sure if this would be a quirky thing about me, or an obsessive, compulsive bent, but I have this thing about ice cubes. When I put ice in drinks at home I always want to make sure there are exactly 7 cubes. 7, being God’s number, I would never settle for 6. I have actually been trying to leave behind this behavior because it has made me feel bound. I grew up in a home where many superstitions were believed in and I just don’t want to take my kids through that. Come by to see me at Melissa’s Very Own Blog again when you get a chance. Thanks.
