Really, they do. As I was sitting at my laptop this morning, I got three messages that I was tagged. Denise (Shortybears Place), Laurel (Laurel Wreath), Beckie (A Child of God) and Lori (Sunday) all tagged me to see if I will share with them some random facts about me. No problem–I just hope that I don’t duplicate anything, since I already have done ‘things about me’…We will see…

  • When I was a little girl (in the last century), someone pocked a metal scooter into my knee. It was bleeding like crazy, but I survived…
  • When I was six or seven I hit my head on a metal piece on our bunk-bed. Needless to say, I needed stitches and a tetanus shot. The funny thing was that I thought that it was just a bump, until it felt really warm on the top of my head and I asked my mom to take a look. She almost passed out and raced with me to the doctor…
  • I am still a klutz injuring myself all the time…Latest battle-scar is a huge burn mark on my arm. I guess I was in a hurry to get the fish sticks out of the oven and didn’t open the door wide enough for me to get the baking sheet out…ouch
  • Speaking of battle-scars…I have a high pain tolerance. Even as a kid I hardly cried – I just always (made) make a hissing sound when I get hurt…
  • I was almost 25 when our son was born. When I went into labor I thought they would send me back home, because the pain wasn’t as bad as everyone had told me it would be. The nurse asked me if I am insane, because my contractions were off the chart…Eh – no, not bad at all 🙂 …
  • When I get upset I start talking in German…
  • If I oversleep in the morning–the first thing that comes over my lips is: “Oh, just great!!!!!”. What did you think would come over my lips 😉 …
  • Oi – almost there…It took me 34 years of my life to grasp the love God has for me and died for my sins…

Okay – now it is your turn: Linda, Lisa, NSpired, Christie, Sarah, Ruth, and Barb (not sure if she is up to it though–keep her and her family in your prayers. Her little grandson went through a tough week…)

Have a blessed Saturday night…

  1. Glad to find that my name was not on the tagged list! 🙂
I have had several myself lately.
Just stopping by to wish you a blessed, relaxed Mother’s Day!

  2. Well, good grief, Iris. You are one tough bird. I cry like a little girl when I get hurt. You should have seen me in labor. I told Dr. Epidural that I loved him when he showed up to take away the pain.

I’m proud of you. I could learn a thing to two from you and your bravery!

  3. You are so cute. I should say you do have a high pain tolerance. I wonder if it’s because you were injured so much you just got used to it 🙂 You have had a lot of excitement.
Thanks for tagging me Iris. I always feel special when someone does that 🙂 I promise to do it next week.

  4. Ok note to self, when Iris speaks German…RUN!! heheeh.

Well we are opposites in the pain area, I am a BIG baby. hehehe…. I kept yelling I was in contractions and they said “well honey it has not shown up on the screen yet” Ha! But I ended up having a C-Section, showed them!

    I loved reading this.

    HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY.

  5. Iris, thanks for the tag! I will try to get this done on Monday…emom tagged me too and I”m putting it off!

Love the pic of you and your MOm!
Blessings to you on Mother’s Day!

  6. Dear Iris,

Thank you for taking the time to do this meme. I love to learn more about you and I REALLY wish I had your kind of pain tolerance. If I get a splinter, watch out! lol. I hope your mother’s day has been blessed.

  7. A wonderful post to share your pain tolerance with us.
When at the side of mom, easily get a low pain tolerance. Enjoying being cared by Mom.
When not at the side of mom, I get a high pain tolerance…..

Also I have so many scars on my finger….easily for me to get hurt when cut potato, so I perpared many bands at home. 🙂

  8. I’m up for it Iris. You’re the sixth person to tag me for this so I need to get busy.

Thank you for your sweet thoughts about Cameron. He’s on his way to the pediatrician again today – we simply cannot get his blood sugar under control. But knowing that we we finally get him stabilized and Kris can go back to work he will be in capable and willing daycare … well that has been a huge blessing to us.

I’ll let you know when I get this meme done. And thank you for tagging me.

  9. PS – Lucky you to have a high tolerance. Not me. I’m a WIMP. And what is it about fish sticks – I burn myself every single time I make them! 🙂

  10. Great list. I’m very accident prone. But I am rather jealous of your labour, with my second girlie I was in labour for nearly 18 hours and it hurt ALOT! 🙂 Thanks for tagging me, hugs.
