I posted this post WAY.BACK in November of 2005 (Can’t believe that I am still blogging…). I have changed it a little, since I don’t get too many male visiting/reading my blog. I compiled a list of what makes my heart leap–things that my Sweetheart does:
- Bring flowers when I least expect them
- Kisses me when I prepare dinner
- Asks me how my day was, at home or in the office
- Tells me how his day was in the office
- Answers my email with a nice note back
- Tells me that dinner was “yummy†(although I can tell if he didn’t like it)
- Takes me out on a date, e.g. dinner or a movie
- Watches a ‘chick-flick’ with me once in a while and enjoys some (some of them he doesn’t like– “You’ve Got Mail”)
- Tells me that I am beautiful and still cute 😛
- Goes with me to the mall (twice a year maybe) and we have a cup of coffee after some shopping
- Order out food on Fridays or Saturdays (I like to take a break from cooking once in a while)
- Tells me that he love me (but that is a given – right?)
- Makes me laugh by telling jokes or just being silly
- Takes me on a day trip or overnight-stay
- and my personal favorite – a long hug before bedtime **Sigh**
What, my beloved readers, makes you smile and your heart leap? I would love to hear from you…
I hope you have a blessed day and as always…
I like your list…….I don’t there is anything I would ad or subtract from it…..if there would be anything I would ad it would be getting a text message in the middle of my work day from my hubby……because I know how long it takes him to compile a test message on his phone which means he really is thinking of me.
Ooooh, I like this one! I’ll have to add playing with the kids so I can finish eating my (usually cold) dinner…a well-timed back rub after a long day…starting the car/scraping off the ice before I have to go out…getting me a big bowl of ice cream after the kids are in bed…snuggles in the morning…
Wow, you have a PERFECT husband. (Mine’s pretty sweet too.) I would ditto everything you’ve said. I was looking at your portrait again. Those were the days when our men had hair!!! (Does yours still?) My husband is a quick learner… if I tell him I like something, I consider it done. (eg. Sometimes he strokes my cheek.)
Have a wonderful weekend!
Wow, that list bears repeating, Iris :).
My heart leaps when my husband “hears” something I’ve said–the kind of thing you say but don’t really expect to be heard (does that make sense?). An example is when he bought me an archery set for our anniversary our first year in TN. He had heard me say for years I wanted to learn how to shoot a bow, but I never could justify the expense. Sooooo, he took matters into his own hands and bought one FOR me :). It was about as romantic as you could get!
My heart absolutely does flips when I see the look my husband gives me when he comes in the back door after a long day while I’m cooking dinner. He looks at me like he’s been waiting to see me all day, and he inhales like he’s smelling the most wonderful smell. He looks at me like he has the biggest crush on me. It’s why I strategically position myself in front of that stove at 5:00 day after day with a fresh coat of lip gloss on. Yes ma’am. 🙂
This was fun to read!!! My husband and I made a deal not to spend any money on each other for Valentines Day so Sam and I made him a Chocolate Fudge Cake and he recorded the Grammy’s and played one of my favorite songs by James Blount on playback Valentine’s morning. I have to say that his being a romantic is one of my most favorite things about him 😉 BTW…I am going to be putting up my Currently Reading…back by popular demand ;).
You’re blessed to have a very romantic and thoughtful hubby.
Have a great day!
This isn’t post related, sorry. Please consider joining me for two weeks of sacrifice. See my blog to find out more.
Iris,
Your guy is a winner and so are you. I love the last thing on your list. You always make me smile. Love and hugs, Lynn
