I was tagged by E-Mom with the Five-things-you-didn’t-know-about-me meme. This is really hard for me to come up with 5 things, because if you have been reading this blog for a while – there is not much more about me. At least interesting stuff . But I will give it my best to tell you something new about me…
- You know that I like photography — flowers (roses in particular) are my favorite object. You know why? Because I have a hard time taking pictures of moving objects.
- My great-grandfather on my father’s side was a ‘traveling’ Lutheran preacher in Germany. I guess that is why I like theology so much – maybe?
- I took four in-depth theology courses (Lutheran perspective) on-line and I very much enjoyed it. I actually aced all the classes and my profs were happy about that :).
- I get sometimes panic attacks while driven — especially when it is dark. I know — not a good thing, just can’t help it. If I get them, I have to pull over and just relax for a few minutes. I usually pray The Lord’s Prayer during that time…
- My grandfather (who died after the 2nd World War as a prisoner in Russia) spoke 7 different languages. I guess that is why our son has a
neckknack (thanks E-mom ) for languages. I only know 2 and hoping to add a 3rd one to my ‘repertoire’ – Italian. Our son gave me software a while back, so I can learn it. Not sure if anything else fits in this old noggin though…
Actually as I was typing the ‘unknown facts’ about me, more popped into my head. But I keep them to myself for now. Who knows? Maybe I get tagged again…Or did you know all the above facts?
Okay – I suppose to tag others with the meme, but every time I do, others don’t play…Well, maybe I can try it with some people I would like to know more about, like Sissy, Laurel, Cyndi, Heather, Darlene and Christie? Are you ladies in? If not — that is okay…I understand.
Well, E-Mom, did you learn anything new? I hope I didn’t bore you too much. As I mentioned – I am not a very interesting person …
I hope to see some of you tomorrow over at Laced with Grace. Blessings on your Sunday evening and as always…
I’m relatively new, and didn’t know most of the above! Thanks for sharing! And I’m in. Thanks for tagging me! ::::wracking my brain trying to think of 5 interesting things to share::::: 🙂
I’ll write mine tomorrow. Thanks for tagging me! I get a little frightened with night driving too, and I could never drive on the highway at night. That would give me a panic attack.
Got mine up =) Thanks
Hi Iris!! I am very behind on all my reading out here in the blogosphere…been too busy reading that great book you sent! ;)……I don’t usually participate in meme’s but I may think on this one and incorporate it into a post….check back with me tomorrow…it’s a holiday…yippee 😉
Bored??? No way!!! This is all very interesting AND new. Not surprised you “aced” your theology classes! Sorry your grandfather died as a prisoner in Russia… 7 languages… awesome. You certainly have a “knack” for languages too. Italian as a third one???? Bellisimo! I’m still working on Hebrew. Mais oui, my French (from my childhood in Canada) still serves me well in a pinch.
I think I told you my ancestors (father’s side) were German Lutherans. They fled to Ireland after the Reformation–religious persecution for their Protestant beliefs. One of my ancestors met Charles Wesley in the UK, and like your great-grandfather was an itinerant preacher. Eventually my forebears came to the new world. Loyalists to the British crown, they fled to Canada during the American Revolution. I’m the only American in my family-of-origin. :~)
Thanks for playing and sharing!!!
I’m a new reader of your blog so now I know five more things about you than I already new.
Nice to learn more about you! 🙂

Great job Iris. That is so cool about your theology classes. Me, I just have a simple faith “God said it, I believe it, that settles it.” :o) I don’t like driving at night either…especially when it rains!!!
Thanks for sharing. Blessings to you today.
Oh, these are good things to know about you, Iris. I think Italian would be a lovely language to learn. It sounds so romantic.
What a great list! It was fun learning more about you, Iris! Blessings!
Great list. It really was neat learning more about you. Thanks.

Iris, You have so many facets. I did not know all of these things about you. However, it surprises me not, that you aced your classes. That is why I always bug you with my questions. L&H, 🙂
Those are very interesting things! That has happened to me driving at night by myself too…=(
I will try to get this up. I didn’t see this til tonight, so it may take me til tomorrow….thanks!

E-mom actually tagged me as well but things hae been so hectic I haen’t gotten to it. Hoping that I will this week. Rachel’s birthday is tomorrow so, we’ll see.
It’d be hard for me to come up with unknown facts that I’d be willing to share online. WOw, 7 languages! That’s impressive.
