***Contest/Comments Closed – Winner Announced***

As I had mentioned on last week’s Thankful Thursday post, music is a huge part of my day. One of my current favorite CD’s is by MercyMe “The Generous Mr. Lovewell”. I always enjoyed MercyMe’s music, but this particular album is (in my humble opinion) their best to-date.

Why do I like that album so much? Its message. Although all songs are marvelous (and the messages), “Back to You” is my favorite song. Let me share some lyrics:

“Nobody said it would be easy
Nobody said that life’s a breeze
Tossin’ and turnin’, oh the wind keeps churnin’
Like I’m a little toy boat out on the sea”

Isn’t that the truth? Life is not a breeze, but as followers of Christ, we know that we are not alone in this journey; Christ is with us all the way.

So, how can you enter for this giveaway? Easy-peasy! Just leave a comment below stating what music means to you personally. I will draw a random winner by the end of this week. You already have the CD? Well, no worries. Just enter to give it to a friend or someone you think would benefit having this CD.

Thanks for stopping by today. Hope to see you all on Thursday for another Thankful gathering.

  1. Iris,
First I just have to say that your new header picture is beautiful! It reminds me of our trip to Hawaii several years ago!

Music has a way of refocusing me when I am stressed or out of sorts. After a hard day at work I turn on the car radio and listen to the Christian radio channel and my thought turn to God ~ where they should be. I am so thankful for the many talented Christian artists that God uses to reach people for Christ.

    Living for Him,
    Joan

  2. I always think of you when I listen to “Back To You” =) (don’t enter me, I already have the album). Hugs.

  3. I love music, it can create so much emotion, it can calm, it can excite. I love Christian music as it can help me stay focused on God throughout my day by just hummming a tune in my head.

  4. While I love praying and talking to God, singing His praise is always my favorite way to spend with Him! Nothing is more intimate than losing yourself in song with Him!

  5. “Life is not a breeze, but as followers of Christ, we know that we are not alone in this journey; Christ is with us all the way.”

    Amen.

    As for the question…good question.

I’d say, that to me, music made for the glory of God is his means in making me sensible to the hidden beauties of his joy, his warmth, his love. For us guys, it’s easier for us to love and identify with things like truth, faithfulness, honesty and discipline, but much harder to grasp gentleness, kindness, humility and meekness. Music (worship music) helps remind me what I am not by nature, and what God is leading me to be. It pulls at the strings of my heart to remind me that God doesn’t fit the mold of the prototypical alpha male. He’s tender, kind, gentle, forgiving, loving, optimistic – which means he’s wholly other and I’m only a damaged copy of what he truly is.
