“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” ~ Psalm 23:4 (ESV)
Do you worship Him besides Sundays? I hope you do. There is nothing better to get prepared for your day ahead than to worship Him in the morning. Turn up the volume of your radio (or favorite praise CD) – lift your hands in praise.
As I was driving to work this morning, the radio station played Matt Redman’s song “You Never Let Go”. When Matt started to sing the refrain, I could not help but turn up the volume, raising my hand in praise (at the stop-light). Tears of joy rolled down my face singing with Matt:
“O no, You never let go,
Through the calm and through the storm
O no, You never let go,
In every high and every low
O no, You never let go, Lord You never let go of me.”
God sends us daily reminders that He is with us every single day. Through a Bible verse; through a song you might hear; or even a simple note from a dear friend…He will see you through the valley. One thing I do suggest: wear waterproof mascara. I am glad that I did this morning 😛 …
Be blessed today and as always…
Thank you so much for the reminder and encouragement. I agree God does send us daily reminders, but we need heart filled eye sometimes to see.
I’ve needed that waterproof mascara before on the way to work , too! Great post, Iris!
Oh yes…Sunday to me is just a pre-requisite to the rest of my week. How many time God has spoken to my heart thru a song, or a book, a phone call, even a billboard sign. God speaks ….we just have to listen. Great post today! -Blessings, Laurie
You are so right Iris. Our music minister is always reminding us that our lives are our worship to the Father. How appropriate to begin the day worshipping and then living in such a way that we bring honor and glory to Him.
I am constantly amazed at how I can hear a song over and over for many years and then one day I start balling b/c it has a special meaning for that day or hour or tribulation. Thanks for the post!
I am not a crier, but since I have been blogging, the tears ha ve been flowing. It is amazing how many great stories, scriptures, songs, & posts that I run across while blogging. So glad I started. God is so good! Each day I learn something new just from my blogging friends. It is awesome and so encouraging.
Love this post Iris, music is a big part of my worship in the mornings and there are times when a song that you’ve listened to a hundred times before can just minister like you’re hearing it for the very first time.
Thanks for sharine
This is such a sweet song. My brother and his wife are foster parents to two little boys were abused by their Mom. One of the little boys is only one and a half and really does not speak very well.
About two weeks ago my SIL was changing the little ones diaper when she realized that what he was mumbling was familiar. Listening a little closer she started to pick out a rhythm….the little guy was trying to sing the refrain from this song. She realized that because it was her children s favorite song at the moment he was hearing it over and over again in the car. 🙂
I pray God buries this song deep in his soul.
I love this song too.
Thank you for the visual of God’s continual grip on us thru all our trials and tribulationsl I love your blog and will be back to visit! God bless
debbie
Oh, what a great song!! I love that chorus. What a great reminder and post today.
Hey, I’m hosting a give a way, stop by when you can!!
Such a nice reminder! And I LOVE that song!
I wrote this yesterday and then my system crashed when I was sending it.
Blessings Iris…minus the mascara part, I woke up with the same thought this morning & wanted to post on it but did not & I’m so happy that you did! It is so true of God sending us daily reminders! Whenever I travel and have praise or worship music, I’m lifting my hands…and not just at stoplights(lol) I’m not as safety conscious! It’s so nice to see you posting on other days than TT! My wake up thought was wouldn’t it be nice to worship on Monday like we do on Sunday & that turned to every day & that became, well, why not? Put on the music & let’s get praising & worshipping the Almighty Lord! May my daily life be a sacrifice of praise! May we worship Him in all we do! Have a wonderful worshipful week knowing that He’ll “never let go”…oh NO! through the dark & through …
Praying the Lord holds onto you all week & you cling to Him & the knowledge that HE never lets go & is right there where you are each day; car, office, sidewalk, home…taking photos, enjoying His creation!
Iris,
I love this sogn. I can almost feel like I am at heaven’s door as I listen to this out in the morning air while I run and praise. I can’t wait to do this with you on day my sister… Wonderful post.
Love you…
I love that song! Thanks so much for sharing your heart with us. I love it when God speaks to us in the ways you mentioned.
Amen, He sends us sweet reminders daily.
Oh Iris! Music does the same thing to me! I often look like a racoon when I get out of the car. That’s why I carry my make up bag with me.
Lately, Nicole Nordeman’s song, “Gratitude” has been doing that to me each time I hear it…which is a lot! I’m supposed to sing it at church in a couple of weeks. I’ve got to get passed crying during it, though. It so moves me.
Have a blessed day.
Hello, Friend!
Yes, I KNOW all about those times that you become so filled that it spills out in tears! Hehe..
Thanks SO MUCH for reminding us to start each day with HIM! 🙂
Hi Iris!
Thanks for stopping by my blog! 🙂
I love that song too… haven’t been listening to music lately, I think I should start again. It really does lift you up… God dwells in our Praise!
Hope you have a blessed day!!
I love Matt’s worship music. I too can get lost in worship while driving. Thank you for sharing.
I am a very new Christian – it took me 30 years to hear God’s voice in my heart.. The song that pushed me over the edge and made me realise and take note of my path was “Here I am to Worship” and the chorus of:
“Here I am to worship,
Here I am to bow down,
Here I am to say that You’re my God
You’re altogether lovely
Altogether worthy,
Altogether wonderful to me”
To actually SAY “You’re my God” was an awesome moment for me and one that reduced me to tears as I was humbled by God.
Oh, and now that I am studying the Bible and the story of our Lord, now the part of “I’ll never know how much it cost to see my sin upon that cross” chokes me up.
Our Lord is a truely wonderful and blessed man.
I really needed to hear this today. Thanks.
BTW — I suggest wearing NO MASCARA! LOL! I haven’t worn it for about 13 years, and I don’t miss it at all! My eyes are simply too sensitive for it, no matter what kind I try.
I love, love, love that song. My darling son & I frequently sing it as we travel in the car… running errands, going to school, whatever. Music is the language of my soul, and whenever I sing, I feel like I have a direct pathway to my Father. I am so grateful to Him!
Iris,
Such beautiful things to be thankful for. I’m so thankful you and Laurel worked things out. Friends are very important and it appears your friend is loving and forgiving. All great traits.
Blessings,
Mary
Great post! I definitely agree t hat God shows up in different ways. I can’t count on how many mini-revivals I have had while listening to music in my car.
Happy Thursday!
Thank you so much for having this Thankful Thursday. I have been learning so much by being vocal about my faith and your blog and many other have been contributing to this! Thanks so much for all of you great scriptures and stories. Keep them coming, they are so encouraging!
Great post Iris! God’s Grace……how wonderful!
