Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
(Colossians 3:16-17 ESV)

How we approach chores, work, marriage, or raising children, is all about our attitude we have toward these things. At least that is my humble opinion.

I used to grumble about certain things (especially when it came to fixing meals). But God has used Colossians 3 to change my attitude. And I am very thankful for that change. Fixing meals for my beloved has become actual joy. Yes, you read right – joy. And may I add pleasure.

You see, I always sought serving others; outside the home. But in all honesty, home should be our first point of service. I just had it all backwards 🙁 …Much has changed over the past year in my home. Sure, I still work full time, but my ministry has become inside my home. The attitude adjustment has done me and my marriage well.

What are you thankful for this week? Please share with us by leaving a link to your Thankful Thursday post below.

Thank you for stopping by today. Remember: ministry is not always outside the home.

Love & peace,
Iris

  1. It’s so wonderful to see God’s work in our lives! So many times, it feels like all we’re doing is struggling and striving (and failing!), but those times when we can actually see forward progress are such great encouragement!!

  2. I’ve had quite a few things backward lately myself, and I too, am thankful for God’s unchanging grace and work in my life to discipline and change my heart.

He is so good. So good.

  3. Sometimes we must CHOOSE to be Thankful even when we don’t feel like we have something to be Thankful for. But when we close our ears and eyes to our situations and focus on God we can find a purpose in our trials to be Thankful for.
