He put a new song in my mouth,
a song of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear,
and put their trust in the Lord.
~Psalm 40:3 (ESV)

I know that most of you enjoy the summer, because you live in cooler climate. I tell, you body is not made for the desert. I grew up (and lived there until I was 30), in a climate that has cool summers and mild winters (not much snow).

Seriously, you would not like to be around me in the months of July and August; I get a little grumpy by the end of August. Although I drink much water, I am still exhausted when I get home from work. By the time weekend rolls around, there is not much I like to do but ‘veg-out’.

The temperatures have dropped to the low 100’s (even already had some 90’s). The best thing is that it dried out enough that we have been running our swamp cooler since last week – YEAH! Double thanks on that one: 1) the house cools better than A/C, 2) our check book is cheering too 😉 . AND due to the cooler weather, I had enough energy to clean our living room from top to bottom.

So this week I am thankful for cooler weather. What are you thankful for? Please do share with us by leaving your link to your Thankful Thursday post below.

Oh, one more thing: if you haven’t had a chance to sign-up for this week’s giveaway, check it out below.

Thank you for stopping in today. Remember: when He puts a new song into your mouth, praise Him.

  1. Oh Girl,

It is cooling off here too. I think I caught a faint breeze floating in from the distant ocean. Neat.

I’m so in love with Jesus. I give Him thanks for all things. Love you too. Hugs. Lynn

  2. Sorry, I just don’t get that. We are getting VERY near the freezing point at night already!!! It was only 1C/34F this morning when I woke up. I can’t imagine wishing for cooler weather in summer!! (especially not this year, sheesh) Tell you what, I’ll trade you one of your summers for one of my Canadian prairie winters!

But I do understand gratitude for a change in temperatures ~ we experience that every April!! 😉

  3. Ah, I love the change of seasons. and, oh for an opportunity to clean any room in my house from top to bottom. With three young children and a host of :life: (and death happening, such opps are rare treats for me now… Not sure when I became a woman who calls cleaning a treat, but, lookie here, I have!

  4. Hi Iris, I can see why you are rejoicing! It has been such a hot summer in most of the country. You must be relieved its cooling down where you live.
Our weather is mild, which is typical here in the pacific northwest. Nonetheless, I rejoice in the changing seasons. I love fall. The cornstalks, pumpkins, leaves, flocks of birds overhead, the harvest moon.
    Wonderful! Happy Thankful Thursday.

  5. Oh, yes, you must be rejoicing! I don’t handle hot weather well, either, and it has been wonderful to have cooler weather again. It must be wonderful to have energy again! I still don’t have much energy, but it’s probably not due to the heat! But our temps seem wimpy at only 90’s this summer compared to yours! It was such a hot summer, wasn’t it?!

I have enjoyed reading the last few posts, and appreciate your comments and quotes. It is a good reminder that whoever Jesus Christ is Savior of is my brother or sister. I think I saw the problem you mention as more of a problem in the past (20 to 30 years ago). It seems to me that now everyone wants to embrace each other as brother and sister, whether they truly believe and are saved by Jesus Christ or not. (I am mulling this over.) Thank you for your posts, they are very thought-provoking!
    Blessings,
    Wendy

  6. Yes Iris, it is finally cooling down here also. It has been a long and hot summer. This is my favorite time of the year and I have also had a burst of energy cleaning out things that quite honestly it has just been too hot to even think about! I am thankful for the cool breeze and thankful to you hosting TT this month! -blessings!

  7. Oh yes, I remember those days when we lived in AZ! I don’t miss the summers back there! LOL… I can’t believe it’s been over a year since we moved from Phoenix to Pennsylvania. I love the change of seasons. Especially the fall time. It’s in the 70’s in the day time back here now. Awesome! But again, while you enjoy the 70’s during the winter I will then be wishing I was a “winter visitor” to AZ! LOL…

    Blessings dear friend.

  8. I love it when the weather begins to turn cooler. Autumn is my favorite time of the year. It’s still hot here in Texas, but low 90s compared with 100 plus feels much better.

    Blessings,
    Joan

  9. I’m thankful for cooler weather, too, though for the past year I’ve lived in a mild climate. Prior to that, I was like you…living in a place where the summer norm was above 100! I so love the changing seasons. I think autumn is my most favorite…I am so thankful that God brings variety into our lives.

    Living for Him, Joan

  10. I am so happy that you are enjoying cooler temps, Iris, it has been a long hot summer for us too. Our days are quite warm, but now the evenings are cooler, a sure sign Fall is near. Thank you for hosting TT.
    Blessings,
    Sue

  11. Iris, I totally understand. I grew up on Long Island in NY and we had four seasons. I love Arizona and the desert …except for the summer. In the past, I often escaped to the mountains of Flagstaff. But now I have to stay put. 🙂

    But God is so good.

I wrote a post on Heart Choices today about how thankful I am for blogging. I created a photo collage of all the bloggers I’ve had the pleasure of meeting so far. You and Lori are included. I’m so glad we’ve met face to face and I hope we will get together again soon.

    Love you,
    Debbie

  12. I absolutely love cooler weather, but then again, I live in Florida. 😉 The electrical bill is so much more pleasant too.

Thank you for hosting another great TT. Blessings!

  13. Woo Hoo for cooler weather. I am loving it too. I almost feel like a new person because now I have a bit more energy than during all those HOT summer days.

Thanks for hosting a great TT. Have a blessed day!

    Cindy

  14. I love cooler weather! Fall is by far my favorite time of the year. We spent new year last year in the desert. Even being there for just a week, I KNOW I am not cut out for it year round!

  15. I am new to exploring out into this “blog world” and have been so excited to come across amazing pages such as this one! I too am sooo thankful for cooler weather! I was raised in Southern CA and am now living in Portland, OR. People say I will get tired of it but I just love how wonderfully cool it is outside right now!! 🙂 I used your link to post a Thankful Thursday on my blog and am so excited about following along with you every Thursday! Thanks for such a great idea and inspiration!!

  16. I, too, am thankful for cooler weather this week. Ours has not been as hot as yours, but still… Autumn breezes, bearing wood-smoke and a little bit of nip are far superior to summer sunshine, in my opinion. 🙂

It has been a LOOOONG time since I’ve participated, and it’s good to being doing so again. Thanks for hosting!

  17. Thanks for hosting Thankful Thursday! Your post reminded me of one of my favorite songs:

Summer and Winter and Springtime and Harvest
Sun, Moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy Great Faithfulness, Mercy and Love
    Great is Thy Faithfulness
    Great is Thy Faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy Faithfulness, Lord unto me.

We had a mild Summer this year, so I’m still hoping for a few more Indian Summer days, but overall I’m glad for the promise of cooler weather, and even rain again…to refresh our parched golden hills. Blessings!

  18. I’m late…it’s Friday :0) but was excited to join the Thankful Thursday. I am looking forward to a trip home this weekend where I will find arms open and hearts caring from family. A bed has been prepared especially for me and calls have been made. The amazing thing… this is not a dream..!!! A ‘Place’ has been prepared for me. God, this is just a Taste of what is to come, isn’t it… I love how You are so in LOVE with me..! Can’t wait to go ‘Home’ but love His Treasures on earth in family.

  19. I saw a thankful Thursday post a few months ago and have been writing them ever since… I just realized this was a blog hop!!! Glad to link up and read everyone elses!

  20. Glad to be a part of Thankful Thursday. It’s always good to meet new people who serve Him, our Lord and Savior. Yes indeed, I am thankful for cooler weather! It’s such inspiration to get out into the yard and get some long-needed work done.

  21. I lived in Tucson for three years and remember the heat. And it doesn’t matter if it is a dry heat it is still HOT. I had never heard of a swamp cooler until I moved to AZ. I was amazed at how well they cooled at first because I was a bit skeptical having been around air conditioning all my life. Hope the weather continues to cool for you.
