“For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.”
~ Romans 15:4-7 (ESV)
- I am thankful that I can read God’s Word any time I feel the need for it. I have my Bible with me where ever I go. I have it on my desk all day at work. His Word gives me comfort and encouragement when I am down – especially when co-workers are mean to each other…
- I am thankful that my Sweetheart always encourages me — what ever I would like to do, he supports me — he rocks!!!!
- I am thankful that our son really, really likes his job. It encourages me to see that he has so much enthusiasm. He doesn’t even mind riding the bus every day. On Sundays I take him though, because the bus doesn’t run in our part of the valley. No big deal. It give me time to chat with him…
- I am thankful that TNChick installed WP 2.1 for me (thank you TN – you rock too!!!). It encourages me to know that I have someone in Tennessee who helps me out when I am a wuss…
- I am thankful for the book I am currently reading. Darlene has a way to encourage women to take themselves not so serious. There is only one thing that we should take serious – staying in the Word of God!!!! BTW – please check out the quote I picked for next week’s CWO “In Other Words” (should be up on Friday — but I will post it again on Sunday night here) — it is from “The Mom Complex“. Don’t forget – the February issue of CWO should be up by the time you are reading this…
By now you are probably wondering why I picked “Encouragement” for my issue of Thankful Thursday. It is time to introduce you to the “Encourager of the Month ~ January 2007″…
This month’s recipient is a wonderful woman from the East Coast…She is a kindred spirit. She always knows the right words to say. We email often. She willingly ‘jumps in’ for me at Laced with Grace. She is encouraging to me (and many others on-line), because she doesn’t hold back when she struggles. I like that. I am sure by now you know who it is — right? Of course… Sissy at “The Whippoorwill Chronicles“.
Sissy, thank you so much for encouraging me with your kind spirit. Thank you for listening to me when I have “one of those daysâ€â€¦I hope that you will except my little award.
Please leave your link below, visit other participants when you have time and leave a comment…And I like your comments too 😉
Blessings on your day and as always…

Enjoyed your list, thanks for sharing your thankfulness.
I will never forget what the Bible Gods Word did for me. I lost a dear dear friend in 1990. I was down for years afterwards. One day about 2 or 3 years after her murder I was down again and I read God’s Word 1st time since I was a child and within 15 minutes He had healed me. I felt much better and I started going to church after that.
Blessings to you too
I love your thankful thursdays! No WW this week? I came to see if yours was up. I have to do my rounds at night on Wed because it’s such a busy day.
Hope you’re enjoying the rain!! =)
Love you!

Great list Iris!! And neat on the Encourager Award…I’ll go check her out ;). Have a blessed day.
The upgrade was a bit time consuming but not too bad! Only thing I have a problem with are my smilies and I will work on that this weekend! You are blessed with a friend to do the upgrade for you!
I am glad you get that one day with your son. It is always good to have time for each other!
I will view all the thankfuls later tonight when I get home from work! My day begins!
Blessings on your day!
Good Morning Iris. So much we agree on~especially The Whippoorwill Chronicles! Have a blessed day.
I am thankful that I found such a wonderful, inspirational world out there after I accidently started blogging. Thanks for sharing Iris, I’m always blessed by your blog.
Wonderful thoughts for this Thursday!!! I could not agree more when it comes to Sissy, she is a great encourager.
Blessings.
What a joy your list is! I also want to thank you for your tender words to me on Tuesday. Your comment made me cry like a baby but it also cleansed me and from that point on I felt true comfort and my anxiety went away. So, thank you. 🙂
Iris,
I love it that you think your hubby Rocks!! Iris, You Rock!! Also, Sissy is so deserving of recognition. Love and hugs, 🙂
Hi Iris- What a blessing it was to read your thankful Thursday list. You reminded me of a few more things I had to be thankful for. Thanks!
Jennifer
Hi Iris ~ it’s me again. I had to update my post.
You are such an encourager, Iris! Thanks for your sweet spirit that you portray here on your blog. It is such a breath of fresh air to read your posts. Blessings!
I’m thankful for my husband. He is a godly man who loves me and treats me so well. I couldn’t have asked for a better spouse.
I was trying to add myself with the linky…but it was weird. Everytime I’d click in it to put my info, it would refresh. Would you be so kind as to put my name and website http://butterflykiss21.blogspot.com on the linky???
Also, your list is just filled with such encouragement. You are so blessed!!!!
Sissy is definitely a great choice, Iris!
Thank you for this very encouraging post!
Thank you for this wonderful idea of Thankful Thursday. What a blessing and encouragement to everyone.
Thankfulness is the best cure for a weary heart! GOD BLESS YOU!
Your attitude of gratitude is encouraging to us all!
I want to apologize to last week’s Thankful participants. I didn’t get a chance to visit all your thankful posts–I know that was one of the guidelines and I wanted to, really I did! Going out of town, getting sick, having sick children…you get the picture! Thanks to all of you who were gracious enough to stop by my site and post an encouraging comment!
Beautiful list as always Iris. Glad your son is enjoying his job. That is aways a good thing. And may I say, Sissy is an excellent choice!
Thank you so much for hosting this! It does my heart good to stop and count my blessings and it is so encouraging to read all the other lists! Bless you!
What a blessing your list is! I agree with you about how being able to read the word of God whenever we want to is such a blessing. I remember thinking after watching the movie “Luther” how grateful I was that I have tons of Bibles and don’t have to rely on someone to translate it for me. Praise God!
I am thankful to God that He has broken the curse of poverty over me and my husband’s lives. He keeps reminding me and showing me that it is HE who gives the power to produce wealth.
I posted 13 statements of whatever today, LOL!! There are a lot of rockin’ people around, isn’t there? My hubby rocks, too… and you…
Liking your job is not a very common thing these days, so that’s excellent D like his job!! =)
I’m off to the Post Office. I got up about 2.5 hours ago… had to go break ice on the pond for Cosmo to have water… snow didn’t accumulate here – bummer…. I’ll chat with you soon.
Okay, these two things might seem trivial compared to the deeper, spiritual thoughts your lovely ladies share, but today I’m thankful for:
1) SNOW! For the first time in the four winters we’ve lived here, we woke up to beautiful SNOW!
2) I was nominated for a “Share the Love” blog award and the category was….”Best Commenter”. Ya know what? I was THRILLED and so glad a fellow blogger friend told me!
Soooooo, I sure wish this comment was more substantial, but it’s all I have for the moment :).
I invite you to look at my blog again today I wrote a bit about getting all I want done done
What a WONDERFUL idea…Thankful Thursday…we all have so much to give thanks for! Mine today is for God’s Faithfulness! Blessings!
what a great idea. this is my first thankful thursday post! i’m so glad that your son loves his job too. there’s nothing worse than going to a job that you hate! trust me, i know — and i was lucky enough to get out of it. happy thursday!
Thanks for hosting this uplifting weekly occasion!
Great thoughts Iris, it is encouraging to think of all our blessings, thanks.
I am thankful for the change of focus Thankful Thursdays afford me. Thank you for hosting.

This week I am thankful for friends in my life. They are very very important to me. I have had a busy day and just too busy to stop by… so sorry!! Sandy
This is a fabulous list! Have a wonderful weekend! Hugs to you!
Thank you for this opportunity to express our thanks 🙂
God must have wanted me to visit your blog today. I came by TNchicks. I rarely have time to comment anymore, but I had been off line off and on for along time and I wanted her to know I still check in now that I’m on a new pc.
I’m under spiritual attack lately and I have been complaining and being rather annoying by too much. I myself was going to blog about what I’m thankful for because it always gets me back where I should be. I wasn’t going to do my T13, but I need to get back at it. Mine’s just normal rambles, but this weekend I intend to do my thankful post.
The Lord is good. We must bless Him and remember all that we have to be thankful for.
GBU,
Melissa
I’m thankful for so much but couldn’t muster the energy to blog it! My birthday next Thursday! A meeting scheduled with a potential birthmom on that same day! My hubby enjoying his new position and making it through his new hours! Seeing more and more people being thankful on your linky:)
Blessings!
