“Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty, the Lord, mighty in battle!” ~ Psalm 24:7-9 (ESV)

My friend Laurel had a quote on her blog last week that really struck a cord with me. The quote was about ‘Glory’…I could not stop thinking about the quote by Paul David Tripp (see the quote on Laurel’s blog here). Do you know how Webster defines glory? Definition 1a) praise, honor, or distinction extended by common consent : renown b: worshipful praise, honor, and thanksgiving (giving glory to God)…I tell you – there is nothing better than to praise His name and see His glory 😛 …This week I am thankful for…

  • ..the Glory of the Cross – yes to some it might be offensive, but to me and all who believe – it is Glory in the highest…
  • …releasing something to God that had me in the stronghold for such a long time. Glory to Him Who set me free from it. It is wonderful to let go of things and leave it at the food of the Cross, finally…
  • …my MP3 player. Now you are thinking “huh”? Oh, I just love to sing His praise when listening to music. Last week I stepped outside with my MP3 player blaring “Mighty to Save”. It good my feet dancing in the backyard (I think hubby though I lost it). But what can you do when something just was made clear to you through His Word? Nothing but dancing – right?…
  • …for my attitude adjustment at work. Did anything change at work? Nope – just my attitude. I rather glorify His name than having a pity party – thank you Lord – I needed that adjustment…
  • …for friends that glorify His name with me at Laced with Grace. This time, I want to thank Lynn. Lynn you rock!!!! Not only as a prayer warrior, but also as a friend, confidant and especially as His daughter. Your humble spirit is beautiful…
  • …for giving up things that were really dear to my heart. But sometimes we need to let go of things that we love in order to be free to follow Him with all our heart, mind, body and soul (I will write about it in my next devotion at Laced with Grace)…
  • …and of course I am thankful for my Sweetheart and His support. Glory to God for a loving husband…

What are you thankful for this week? Would you like to share with us? Just leave your link below. I just want to quickly explain that the link to sign up on is open until Saturday morning every week. After that, I import the links to my blog and all the links are permanent with each Thankful Thursday post 😛 .

Now I just have to figure out why in the world I do not get email notifications on comments. I upgraded this past weekend to the new WP and now I no longer get emails *sigh*. Oh well…the devil ain’t keeping me down…

Thanks for stopping by today. Blessings to you and your precious family…

I got from a friend several years before who told me that only Attitude could make 100%. If A-1, B-2,……Z-26. 🙂

  2. Hello Dear Iris,

That is great news about work. I tend to what my circumstances or the people around me to change but not me! I agree with you as far as the music goes, certain songs I sing just to God. One of them is Brave by Nichole , not sure what her last name is. Have a amazing weekend.

  3. Happy Thankful Thursday Iris!

As always it’s such a blessing to read your thankful list! You are such a gracious hostess each week. Thank YOU for being such a blessing to us.

    Have a blessed day~

  4. I am thankful for my Ipod too. There is nothing like putting the earphones in and going about my cleaning and such for the day with Chris Tomlin and Hillsong United leading me in praise and worship!

  5. I love what you said about letting go. I so agree. And I need an attitude adjustment everyday. Tuning up I might say.

BTW, I haven’t upgraded to the new WP and it’s good to hear about your feedback…at least I’d be ready for that.

  6. Oh, dear — I need one of those attitude adjustments at work. You comment was very timely for me. I think that shall be my prayer this next week (or however long it takes). That I may have a much needed attitude adjustment at work.

Thanks for your list and for hosting Thankful Thursday!

  7. Good Morning Iris,
“HAPPY THANKFUL THURSDAY” once again. I do think we all need attitude adjustments at times. I know I do. I am the world’s worse at haning on to things that I don’t want to let go of. I have gotten better about it over the years, but still, it’s so hard sometimes not to let go. I enjoyed your “THANKFUL THURSDAY” list. I have mine up this morning. Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours.

    Love & Hugs,
    Karen H.

  8. Hey Iris, I had to laugh at the dancing in the backyard…..remember when David danced over the great joy of bringing back the ark….and he danced so hard he lost his clothes. That’s passion! I love what you said about letting go of things that you love in order to follow after Him. So true. I don’t want anything to get in my way of following Jesus. I don’t want anything to steal one bit of my love for Jesus. I want to give ALL my love to Him cause He’s so very worthy. My heart shouts….all GLORY and honor to Him forever and ever! Thanks so much for hosting this day, Iris. You’re a huge blessing to me!

  9. Music really gets me, too. I can’t tell you how many times a specific song has played on the radio just for me (well, it felt like it was just for me anyway). Right now, I am loving Michael English’s new song, “The Only Good In Me Is Jesus.”

  10. Thank you Iris for being a host for TT every week. I loved your list. There’s a song it brought to mind by Dottie Rambo. I Will Glory In The Cross. Do you know it? It says”I will weep no more for the cross that He bore. I will Glory in The Cross. Some people wear the cross for decorative purposes. I have many and gave them for gifts at Christmas. The cross to me symbolizes His payment for my sin and my forgiveness.
Enjoy your day and your weekend. I’d be interested to read the Laced With Grace post.

  11. Great list, Iris!! I love the theme for this week. I have two David Crowder Band songs playing in my head now “Lift Up You Heads” and “Glorious”. They will both make a great start to my day! (Going to find my CD now, so I can crank up the praise!!) Thanks for hosting us each week…be blessed my friend!

  12. You always have a wonderful TT post. Giving God glory is what it is all about! We need to do that on everything. Thanks for hosting. God Bless~

  13. Love those dancin’ feet!!! Yes! What else to do but dance and praise Him!!!
You are a blessing to me! Thursday’s are awesome!
Love and hugs to you big time !!! (((hugs)))

  14. Hi My Friend,

Wow, this post is filled with your testimony. The power of Jesus at work in your life is evident all over the place.

I love you my friend. I am standing with you as we dance like David. Have a fantastic Thursday. Love and hugs, Lynn

  15. I’m right there with you on the mp3 player…I’m using mine when I walk and since I walk in the lobby of our building it’s really hard to not raise my hands in praise…so yesterday….I just couldn’t help myself and I raised one arm as I walked during one particular song. People will think I’m strange, but don’t care…and others that praise with their arms raised would probably figure it out….just trying to give Him the glory. We had closure this week about a financial matter…gave my husband great peace, and for that I am very thankful. I’m thankful that God is moving in our lives and the lives of His body, the Church…Blessings on your day, Iris..

  16. I just posted a Thankful Thursday post on my blog, and then found out that you were hosting it here! What great timing! Thanks for hosting this and I look forward to being inspired by everyone’s thankful thoughts.

Oh- you may want to delete my first link – it was leftover from the last bloggy giveaway! Sorry!

  17. I love your TT list this week it’s so happy and upbeat, it brought a smile to my face. I see you have some new anti-spam words too.. Keep up the good work. God bless

  18. Glory to God! How awesome it is to thank, praise, and glorify His Name! Thanks for TT and for reminding us to have an attitude of gratitude! Blessings!

  19. Great Thankful. Attitude adjustments are needed often over here ( 4+ children) 😉 Oh but I thank Him for it when it comes, to me that is. It shows me that He loves me. Have a blesesd weekend in Christ Jesus.
    Stacy

  20. I love the one about attitude – it makes such a difference when you do that instead of waiting for something or someone else to change – that one really helped me :o) I really enjoy your blog XX
