For I eat ashes like bread
and mingle tears with my drink,
because of your indignation and anger;
for you have taken me up and thrown me down.
My days are like an evening shadow;
I wither away like grass.But you, O Lord, are enthroned forever;
you are remembered throughout all generations.
You will arise and have pity on Zion;
it is the time to favor her;
the appointed time has come.
~ Psalm 102:9-13 (ESV)
Have you ever looked back on your faith-filled journey? Have you noticed how far God has brought you? I have been in the valley more than on the mountain top. The valleys have been painful, but were necessary for me to grow into the woman I am today.
Are the dark valleys behind me? I doubt that, but I know for sure that no matter what happens in my life, I can count on His faithfulness. His love, mercy, grace and peace will see me through the end of days.
So, today I am thankful for the journey I have been on and continue until I see my Savior face-to-face. May my mouth always praise His name and my heart never grow faint, trusting in Him who took His Journey so long ago toward the Cross.
What are you thankful for this week? Please do share with us by leaving a link to your Thankful Thursday blog below.
Thank you for stopping by today. Remember: if you find yourself in the valley of sorrow or pain, look up to the One who gives you His peace.

Great post. Valleys are so difficult but so extremely necessary. Knowing we are not alone as we walk through those valleys is very helpful. 🙂
Don’t we all have our valleys, but Thankfully we have Jesus with us! Great post! Happy TT!
Sure wish we didn’t have to go through those valleys, but the Lord knows what He’s doing. Have a wonderful Thursday.
He is faithful through the valleys, isn’t He? Thankful along with you!
This post is so true.
Such a good reminder.
When we were in our darkest valley I held tightly to Psalm 62 where God tells us to pour out our hearts to Him.
I also LOVE that the Valley of Achor (pain/suffering/trouble in Joshua 7) become the Valley of Hope in Hosea 2.
Only God can do that.
Stuck in the valley right now, but it’s easier to know that I am not alone!
awesome thankful story. good reason to be thankful for. mind is up! 🙂
AMEN to that scripture verse! Thank you so much for hosting today!
I am totally inspired by your thoughts. We must always be thankful in every way HE does to us.

I had such trouble writing this morning until I remembered seeing this meme. And I have so much to be thankful for, so I am grateful for this meme.
Happy Thankful Thursday!
Yes it is great to look back over the journey and see how God has worked and been there along the way in valleys and mountaintops.
Hope you have a lovely weekend, friend!
Bethany
I really love this entry and topic. Thank you for hosting us!
Iris, I really needed this Word today. I am in a valley but I know God is with me. Love you. 🙂
You must have been reading my mind. God is great. I was listening to a sermon on the radio yesterday and it was saying that God never punishes us just for punitive purposes, but always to teach us something. I believe that if we didn’t have to go through the vallies we would not learn to appreciate the mountain tops, but even more than that we probably would not truely learn what it is to fully rely on God.
Thank you for a great post and for hosting TT.

Thank you for your great words. I too need to remember to praise and be thankful with my mouth. I try to have a grateful heart, and sometimes I do a lousy job when it gets to the everyday stuff, dealing with the kids’ fighting, burning a meal, etc. Thank you for this great reminder. I really need to work on it!!
Through our trials and “valleys”, God tempers and hones our Faith and draws us closer to Him in the process. Thank you for the post, and for hosting “Thankful Thursdays”. 🙂
Have a Blessed Day!
This spoke so clearly to me today. Thank you.
You might’ve noticed that I have been absent from TT for a while… I have been in the valley for a while (after discovering my husband’s infidelity in August). I have remained faithful and have kept God in my heart through it all and I;m making my way back to the mountain top. Finally.
It’s been quite the journey….
I have been there so many times but now I now enough to trust and be patient. He faithfulness has taught me that He will always be there, always.
I’m thankful for my Mom who’s been sick for over a month. It’s hard to watch her suffer, but God has been faithful to us both. He has confirmed her faith in Him many times on her journey and He has encouraged me to stand with her thru His Word and family and friends. Thanks for hosting, Iris. blessings on your day!
found you through your thankful Thursday post and enjoyed your beautiful blog I will be back. Please stop by and visit my site too.
Your words here are lovely.
lent – learning and living – amazing !
Iris,
Your words brought such glory to our Heavenly Father. I heard two messages like this today. Not sugar-coating the tough times, or glossing over the fact that life has been extremely difficult, but totally faith-filled in a God Who will always be there and never leave you nor forsake you.
Thanks so much for sharing that perspective.
(I had a little trouble today–first I forgot to link up my post, and then I typed too long a title! So sorry! First time for both those experiences! The long title was because I wanted everyone to know that they’re invited to join with me in praying for the next 6 weeks, until Resurrection Sunday, for our Country, Churches and Families. They’ll get the details when they read the post. Please join me in Fervent Prayer!!)
Blessings,
Wendy
I am thankful that the same God that is God of the mountains, is the same God that is the God of the valley’s..

I am also so thankful for the journey He is bringing me on! He has brought me so far…and yet, I know I have a long way to go. But, I’m praising God, for I know that His love is never ending!
