“There are many who say, “Who will show us some good? Lift up the light of your face upon us, O Lord!” You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound. In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.” ~ Psalm 4:6-8 (ESV ~ emphasis mine)

One of the definitions of “Peace” is: freedom from disquieting or oppressive thoughts or emotions. Lately I am screaming inside “no more!!!” – Ever felt that way? You don’t want to deal with another thing that life is throwing at you? The only thing I know that gives me peace in a raging sea is prayer and the comfort that my Lord is near me…never leaving me. So this week, I am thankful for the peace that comes from the Lord…

  • Lord, thank You for Your peace – a peace that does not come from the world, but from Your presence in my life…
  • Lord, thank You for quieting my spirit last night when I was unable to sleep – more than thousands thoughts going through my mind…
  • Lord, thank You for giving me peace about our house. Although still in a disarray, I know that one day it will be all fixed again…
  • Lord, thank You for the times I have with You in my car. That is the most precious time of the day for me. No one there to disturb my thoughts, my prayers…
  • Lord, thank You for placing my husband by my side. He a peaceable man, I need that to calm me when my thoughts run wild…
  • Lord, thank You for giving me peace that Summer is almost over – only a few more weeks and I am free of the heat for several months…
  • Lord, thank You for Bible studies and sermons that ‘speak’ peace into my life…

What are you thankful for this week? Would you care to share with us? Please leave your link below…

Thank you for stopping by today – remember: real peace comes from spending time with the Lord (alone)…let Him speak peace over you…

  1. Praying all is going well with you and your home, dear Iris.

Peace. That is something I’ve been working on and opening my heart too. Hubby is transitioning to a new job and we’ve just slowly begun the adjustment but we serve such an amazing God who knows how to just touch our hearts when we need Him the most.

  2. I’m with you, I adore listening to sermons etc from the computer in my office – peace and quiet while concentrating does much for my soul 🙂

  3. I also find peace when I am alone in my car and when hubby’s around (even when no one speaks), Iris.
Am glad that peace comes to you at all times.

  4. Thank God for giving us peace as we pray and cast our cares upon Him. I am learning day by day to look to our Lord too and rest in His love. Thank God for giving you peace and rest in Him. May He continue to give you peace and joy in Him daily. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Thanks for sharing your thankful heart with us, Iris. Take care and God bless!

  5. Oh Iris,

Lord, thank You for placing my husband by my side. He a peaceable man, I need that to calm me when my thoughts run wild…

Amen. What a beautiful post today. As always. Love your girl. Hugs, Lynn

  6. Peace is what I have craved and been fed with by God this week! I’m so glad you chose this topic and am so blessed by your post, Iris. God bless you for hosting this wonderful meme each week. It’s been a real blessing in my life to have a day to truly focus on being grateful for what He has given us. God is so glorified through it!

  7. Thanks be to god for giving us the Prince of Peace who gave us a peace different from the world. I too love thos emoments in the car when all alone with just God. Peace to you today what a wonderful thing to be thankful

  8. PEACE BE WITH YOU IRIS, my friend…I just have this song in my heart: Let peace begin with me…let this be the moment now…with every step I take, let this be my solemn vow…to take each moment and live each moment in PEACE eternally…let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me…Thanks so much for choosing PEACE, Iris…seems many of us need this…as the school year starts, the summer ends, … I pray you find PEACE each day with HIM be it your car or in the disarray of your home and HE BRING HIS PEACE…big hugs and prayers so you can stop screaming NO MORE (lol) I feel like that too with my 5 dogs barking daily…hourly and even now in the storm outside, almost midnight and whining to go out!! Gotta go and let them out so I can have some peace…love and thanks

  9. Yes, hubby and I were really yelling “no more” by Monday morning, but somehow our desperation and turning to God really stirred us to stay focused:)

    Lovely Thankfuls! God Bless always…

  10. Wonderful thoughts Iris! Bless you. I won’t be posting today…much too much to do in order to leave for a mission trip tomorrow. I am so thankful for the opportunity, and today I must pack and prepare my heart as well. Praying peaceful moments in your life today and always.

  11. Shalom! I treasure God’s peace to us. Humanity lost peace with God when sin came, yet He made a way to bring peace through the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank God too for your thankful list. It’s a refreshing thought that we can draw peace from God 24/7 and everywhere we are. You blessed me today, sister. I bless God today with thankfulness too for His peace. Thank you.

  12. Thank you Iris for this post and sharing Thankful Thursday with us!

    Love,
    Jill

  13. Hi Iris,
I needed your ‘peace’ post today. Cliff’s job is on the line and I have been spending my time between worrying and trying to trust in the Lord.
I am so with you on the peace in knowing that summer is almost over. I love fall!!!

  14. Iris, I love my time in the car too. Just too sweet. Sometimes I wonder how I get to the place where I’m going. I get lost in His love. Thanks again for hosting TT. Blessings on your day.

  16. Peace – what an awesome reminder. This week has been particularly difficult in the “busy” department and I feel like I could fall over every time I stand up, I’m so tired. Thank you for bringing to my attention the fact that despite all that I have going on, all the “busy,” I am not flustered, panicked and I haven’t done anything like fall asleep at the wheel of my car – all because it is His peace I carry and He’s been carrying me. Blessings to you!

  17. I often find that when things are restless instead of seeking the Lord I try to fill myself up with business. I know the Lord is calling to rest and trust in Him but man this is a hard lesson to grasp. Thank you for the reminder that true peace ONLY comes from Him. Have a blessed day Susan

  18. One of God’s greatest gifts in my life is His PEACE! Thank you for pausing to reflect on the word peace. Excellent!

  20. Thanks for mentioning peace in your post. I have been thinking about that this week as well. The Lord’s peace is always with us, but sometimes I need to rest from my own life in order to experience it. God bless!
