“In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints.” ~ Ephesians 6:16-18 (ESV – emphasis mine)
I am not sure what happened between last Thursday and this week. Everything seems like a blur to me. I am very sorry that I have not made it to all of your posts this past week (only about 80%) – I will try to do better this week.
Over the last couple of weeks, the subject of prayer kept coming up…so I thought to share my thankfulness about prayer with you…
- I am thankful that our Lord, Jesus Christ, made a way that we can approach the throne of grace 24/7-365. Because of His blood we have a ‘direct-connect’; no voice-mail…
- I am thankful that God hears our prayers. Although I might not ‘like’ His answer, I know that His answer is always perfect…
- I am thankful that I have friends who will lift me up in prayers when ever I need them…thanks Lynn, TNChick and Laurel 🙂 …
- I am thankful that my friends approach me when they are in need of prayers…
- I am thankful for prayer sites like “PrayItCards“. They have wonderful prayer-cards that you can pray for family, friends and perfect strangers…
- I am thankful for Sharon sharing this wonderful prayer couple weeks ago. I just love it and hope to memorize this prayer for my morning prayers…
- Last but not least I am thankful I have found this wonderful prayer guide to pray for my beloved…Thank you Denise and Shari for sharing it on your blogs…
(Little side-note – I am thankful for tabbed browsing which makes the linking in a blog-post much easier 😛 )
What are you thankful for this week? Please do share with us in leaving your link to your Thankful Thursday post below. Thank you for stopping by today and being part of the Thankful Thursday bunch…

You know Iris what you said here:
I am thankful that God hears our prayers. Although I might not ‘like’ His answer, I know that His answer is always perfect
I can relate to that right now. Even though I didn’t get the job I wanted I know that God has it in hand.
I am certainly thankful for friends who lift me up in prayer!
Wow, I typed my Thankful Thursday first thing this morning, and it was on the SAME SCRIPTURE!! How awesome is that???
Looks like God is speaking loud and clear! I love when this happens.
I’m going to post mine now.
Blessings…
yes, I am so thankful that God answers our prayers, too! 🙂
Blessings always …
Oh, Iris, I want to echo every word. I am thankful for my friends who pray for me when I am in need. You are one of them. It is so interesting to me that when I need prayer you are strong and able and when you need it, I am strong and able.
I am standing in the gap for you my sister. I plan to go visit all of the prayers you have listed. I can’t wait to read them.
I also hope to visit all the TT participants. Have a beautiful and blessed day tomorrow on this TT. Love you, Lynn
Iris, you always have the best post! I love my visits here. Thanks for hosting Thankful Thursday. God Bless~
Thanks, Iris, for a great list and inspiring us. I loved this line: Although I might not ‘like’ His answer, I know that His answer is always perfect… how much I struggle with living that out!
Wow! I love being encouraged to be thankful about prayer. Oh that the Lord allows me to even be in His presence. Amazing Grace. Thank you for helping me to think about prayer in this way today.
That Pray It Card site is pretty neat. I had never heard about it before. I started the 30 Days of Praying for my husband yesterday. I decided to correlate the date with the numbered prayer idea. But, I didn’t want to wait until March 1st. I’ve noticed that my prayer life is improving since I started blogging. It’s nice to read posts, like yours, that are dedicated to prayer.
God never ceases to amaze me. Our “spiritual clothing” as in the verse is exactly what the Lord has been talking to my heart about this week. As I dressed this morning…He reminded me something my sister Aimee said…”I’m not completely dressed until I’ve prayed”. It is too true.
You’re a blessing Iris.
Such a nice thankful list dear.
Iris,
Loved your list of things to be thankful for. I’ve missed a couple of weeks, but am back. I have very much to be thankful for this week. Thank you for hosting Thankful Thursday.
Blessings,
Mary
wanna thanks my hubby for loving me…mine is up…thank you
You remaind me that I should be thankful for the right to pray, and he listen to our prayers, also will answer our prayers. His will is good will, to lead us live a meaningful life. Thanks.
God is so good. I’m thankful for His faithfulness and His Spirit of love and truth.
Yes, prayer is definitely something to be thankful for! Can you imagine still having to go through another human being? PRAISE GOD for that OPEN LINE!! =-)
As for visiting everyone’s blog… DON’T WORRY yourself ABOUT IT! 😉
Love,
Tonya
I joined your list on prayer! What a wonderful privilege we have. Be blessed!
Blessings to you.
Very, very true! I am new to this so I hope I did it right! Thanks for this meme!
Amen to your list! Pray is so much more than a ritual. And when we finally grasp who it is we are able to come to so boldly, well it’s nothing short of amazing!
Isn’t it amazing how we can open our hearts to God through prayers? It’s such a blessing that we can speak to God with our prayers -anytime, anywhere.
I love it that God doesn’t have voicemail and we are always immediately connected to Him in prayer!
Funny story…. one time in college, a friend was in her dorm room talking on the phone. She was praying with the person on the line. Her roommate came in to hear her praying. When she was done, her roommate asked for God’s phone number!
Good Morning Iris,
“HAPPY THANKFUL THURSDAY”!!!! I have my “THANKFUL THURSDAY” post up. I am “THANKFUL” for God answering some prayers on Tuesday. GOD IS GOOD, ALL THE TIME, GOD IS GOOD!!!! Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours.
Love & Hugs,
Karen H.
Your post is beautiful – prayer is so important in our lives!

Hi, Grace. This is my first Thankful Thursday and I’m so glad to be able to join in! Thanks for hosting.
I, too, am so very thankful for prayer!
I love your list, Iris. I especially love the first one that we are able to approach God’s throne 24/7. What a mess we would be if we didn’t have that available to us. I also like that site ‘pray it cards’. Very neat!
Happy Thursday!
Your verse means so much to mean today. I’m not sure why, but it just strikes the heart and soul. And your emphasis on prayer is tender to me to!
Blessings on you this week!
Hi Iris!! Thanks for the links in your post about prayer. I will have to check them out!! I also wanted to tell you how thankful I am for you!! My TT post is celebrating my one year bloggy birthday and how TT has changed me and exposed me to such great ladies. This has been a blessing every since I found it 6 months ago. Thank you for hosting it!! Have a blessed day friend!!
I too am thankful for God’s immediate connection with us in prayer. What a blessing! Thank you, Iris.
Hi Iris, Great post. Prayer has become so very precious to me. I love praying for others. And I love to know that others are praying for me. We need each other in the body of Christ. Blessings on your day girl!
I am so glad you published about the tabs. I thought everyone had them. My brother turned me on to firefox about a year ago and I have been enjoying things that I just thought everyone was enjoying. Like the spell check-how great is that?
I love the tabs too!
I does make blogging easier.
I have been meaning to memorize that prayer too. I put it on the bottom of my page so that I could scroll down and read it.
I am supposed to be studying–but I thought I would get on line to see what is going on.
Good things here. Keep the faith–keep looking up. Our “redemption is drawing nigh”.
Sometimes I skip a day in my Journey devotional guide and then use it on another day. Since I didn’t know what the subject was or the Bible verse it contained, I’m surprised when it fits my situation on that particular day. Then I am sure God planned for me to skip it so that He could use it at just the right time. He is always amazing me.
Thank you for the references. I save the prayer for my our mates and added Sit With Me Awhile to my favorites. I know I’ll want to read other things she has to say.
Have a blessed day and a week filled with joy! Thanks for hosting.
I have been reading through Leviticus and realized how thankful I am that I can approach God anytime, anywhere!
Thank you for your kind words, thank you for always being there. HUGS. And only by God’s grace I got a jumbled post up 😉
Have a blessed Thankful Thursday! I’m off to check out the links you gave.
Thanks Iris! Have a great weekend.
Just this week I had a woman from church contact me. I have been on her heart and she has held me up in prayer. What she didn’t know was that I had a very difficult time the past few days. I am so thankful that the Holy Spirit brought me to her mind and she lifted me up in prayer when I needed it!
Thanks for this post on prayer.
Thank you for reminding me that I should be thankful when friends ask me to pray for them.
That’s an awesome thankful list, Iris. My sister is in Arizona right now. Wish I was there too.
Hi Iris!
I’m pretty thankful that I was able to make it home safe from work.
I love your second Thankful for the week. I quoted you in my entry because that’s exactly what I’m thinking. It brings me to tears every time I think of it.
thank you for the inspiration. I hope and pray that everything is well with you.
Morning Sniffles
This is my first time to post at Thankful Thursday. I have been very encouraged by what I have read by other women here and I plan to re-visit several of the sites. Thank you for such a wonderful ministry!
Kelley
Dear Iris,
I am new to TT but I just want to say thank you for hosting this. I love having a chance to say how grateful I am to my Lord and Savior and look forward to Thursdays because of this.
Gina
Yes, thank God for showing us the way to Him!
I like the pray it cards and prayer guide link! Thanks!
It is so inspiring to read your blog entries every week, you are a real blessing to all of us.
God Bless
I am glad to participate again this week in the Thankful Thursday posts. Thanks again for hosting this, Iris.

This is my first time doing Thankful Thursday and I really needed it today! Thank you!
What a wonderful list. Prayer is not just crucial but it just a part of who a Christian is…like breathing. Thanks so much!
This is so touching Iris. I have learned over the past few years (and continue to learn) the amazing power of prayer. How blessed we are to be able to speak to the Holy God who is creator and ruler of all things.
This is my 1st attempt on this. Hope I did ok. Can’t wait to read everyone else’s thankfulness. This is so exciting. Thanks.
Wonderful post! It’s so awesome that God desires intimacy with us, and that this intimacy is developed in our prayer life. He truly is an awesome God!
Finally made it! Much to be thankful For. Thanks Iris!
God Bless you!
I’m hoping that this exercise will help to focus on the blessings every day. 🙂
so much to be thankful for, heh? i too am thankful.
have a wonderful weekend.
Prayer is indeed something we should all be thankful for. I remember an old song titled “Living on A Prayer”. I guess most of us are probably doing just that. Oh but thank the Lord we serve a true and living God that not only hears our prayers but answers them ..in due time..to. Thanks so much Iris for hosting this and by doing so encouragin so many that need it, like me ;-).
Stacy
wow. I just found your site in my blog travels and am happily surprised to find a whole community of people participating in Thankful Thursdays! We set Thursday aside as a special day of thanksgiving as our family focus, and I have recently begun incorporating that into my blog as well, and calling it, of all things, “Thankful Thursday!” but now that I’ve found y’all I’ll try to link to you and not “go it alone” 😀 Blessings.
