“And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” ~ Colossians 3:15-17 (ESV – emphasis mine)

Normally I focus on a specific word, but this week it was just impossible — there are just so many things floating in my heart tonight 😛 …So I thought a random list would be best for me this week.

Today I am thankful for…

  • …for God our Heavenly Father Who through the gift of the Holy Spirit guides me through this life. He opens and closes doors of opportunities. And the best thing about it? I don’t get all frazzled anymore when a door of opportunity closes…
  • …for my beloved. I am going through a very emotional time right now with the separation with our son. I am starting to be okay with Daniel living his own life. I have to accept that he is a young adult (it is just hard some days…)…
  • …for my mom. She is such a great woman. I talk to her once a week over the phone. I wish I could just sit with her and have a cup of coffee. But for right now our Saturday morning phone-calls have to do. Oh, and I just got a book from her – I had requested a good read from Mary Pierce – it is in my native language – wahoo!!!!!
  • …for friends that have an understanding heart, ear and share their wisdom with me. I tend to listen to them (most of the time 😆 )…
  • …for God given me peace about my work…
  • …for lost dogs being reunited with their owners
  • …for friends that appreciate your creative side. Thank you Michelle for the sweet award you have given me. You were the first digi-scrap designer who gave me a chance to create digital LO’s as a CT. I have learned a lot from you. Your kits are marvelous to work with…
  • …for what God has done with Thankful Thursdays. It is amazing. The group has qua-tripled since it started in February of 2006 – that is all God’s doing leading you all here…
  • …and foremost I am thankful for His living Word. I so enjoy the time reading His Word and devotional thoughts of others. I love when He teaches me new things; or keeps bringing up the same passage so that I finally get the point 😉 …

What are you thankful for this week? Care to share with us? If you have written your own thankful post, please leave your link below. Please make sure that the link is either to your blog or to your thankful post. If your link is incorrect, others will be unable to visit you…

Thank you for stopping by today. Give thanks in all circumstances – the good and the bad…in the valleys and on the mountain-top.

  6. I understand about your feelings with your son. SOmetimes late at night I’d think about the future, of when Matt is grown up and would live a life on his own…and I’d always feel funny – always trying to fight back the tears. And to think my son IS still 2!

  7. Hi Iris,

Great list and you have such a great big HEART!! I will be praying for you with your son, but please remember to pray for me too! My son is officially in Taiwan now, 10,000 miles apart, 12 hours and I think 10-11 time zones away? I miss him so much.

Our children will always be that, our kids!

Hope you have a blessed day?

  8. So GLAD to finally have Thursday coming on us. Whew!

  13. Iris,
Can you recommend a place (online or otherwise) here in the States where I can order a good Christian book in German for my mom or Oma? I’d love to be able to surprise them with that. I know you’re busy, but if you have a second to pass on any info, I’d be so appreciative. Thanks!

  14. Iris,
First of all thanks for hosting us each and every week, and for never ceasing to be an awesome encouragement to us all. Your list is precious. Mothers are such a special blessing. I will pray for you and your feelings toward “letting go” of your dear son. Remember, God is holding you in this process.
    Love and Prayers,
    Susanne

  16. Beautiful post. Thanks for thankful thursday!! I sympathize with the son thing. I have a new son (almost 1 year) and my husband is an only child. It wasn’t until he was born that I fully began to understand my MIL and her struggle when we were married. I already pray for God to prepare me for the release date. I cried when I had to turn my breast pump in!!! I’m so in trouble. I’ll be praying for God’s peace to help you.

  17. Thankful for your heart. Your willingness to continue leading us in thanks. God bless.

Can you believe it is snowing in Colorado today? What happened? It was mid-seventies yesterday..

  20. I’m back again. I wanted to let you know I spent some time here and I just read your testimony. I really enjoyed it. I have a brother who is a prodigal right now and it was encouraging to hear how God called you home and that you believe someone was praying for you. Keep up the good work spreading his love. Won’t it be neat in heaven when we get to meet all our blogger friends in person?

  21. This is my first time participating in Thankful Thursday. I found it on Mommy Monk’s blog. I’m looking forward to being thankful more often!

TNChick and beautiful Beagle baby are reunited…Thank You, Lord for one answered prayer…WOW! I was paging through your list and praying for each THANKFUL prayer but each one moves me…and there’s not enough room to commment on each so here goes the MOST IMPORTANT for YOU: your heart for your son, who is safe…and protected by the Almighty, but now for your heart and mind that needs protection for this duration of separation…Lord, take control of the emotions overflowing and running freely and contain those tears in Your precious bottle of teardrops and help us TRUST Daniel in Your care and all FEARS be gone in Jesus Name…thanks for the mom with a heart…
