The Lord is my strength and my shield;
in him my heart trusts, and I am helped;
my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.
~ Psalm 28:7 (ESV)
Wow – the weeks are just flying by – don’t you agree? Yeah – next week I have a day off due to the 4th of July holiday – Thank you Lord!!!!
Although I really do not ‘feel’ too thankful after my car was at the dealer for the 30,000 mile scheduled maintenance (the bill was a little steep, believe me), I have many things to be thankful for…
- I am thankful that the Lord grants me a fresh start every single day. Even when I stumble or fall, He is there to pick me up…
- I am thankful that my Sweetheart puts away money every paycheck to pay cash for the said steep bill at the dealer…
- I am thankful that my Sweetheart got gas for our outdoor grill so I don’t have to heat up our kitchen cooking…
- I am thankful for my sisters in Christ who will pray for me whenever the need arises…
- I am thankful for on-line sermons that I can download for my MP3 player when I get frustrated at work (now I just need the Bible in MP3 format 😛 ). You would not believe it–the lady next to my cubicle sings all.the.time. — very, very loud. I wouldn’t mind her singing if she could sing–or at least sings about Jesus. Maybe I should start singing too 😉 …
- I am thankful that Vicki had a link to Desiring God Ministries’ Book store for their $5 book sale. I was able to purchase a couple books by John Piper. The sale is good through Thursday, June 28th…
- I am thankful that I had time last weekend to figure out how to create scrap-booking Quick Pages for Gotta Pixel from scratch. Both layouts were accepted to be in a down-loadable album in July – YEAH!!!!
I knew that once I started writing down my thankfulness, it would be hard to stop. What are you thankful for today? Please leave your link below to share. As your time permits, please visit other participants.
If you have not thrown your name into the virtual hat for the purse, just scroll down to the purse give-away post 😛 .
Blessings on your day and as always…

I laughed out loud about the lady singing next to your cubicle! I can just imagine this ~ how funny! Thank you again, for hosting TT! This my favorite blogging day! Have a wonderful day Iris!
Great list Iris. I love listening to online sermons too!
I adore my iPod, did you know that you can download Beth Moore’s Daniel study. I’m just starting it and I have already leaned so much! Thank you Jesus for technology. My van is also in crisis, thank goodness the kids aren’t in school. Thank you for sharing and for hosting!!!!
Sometimes it is hard to be thankful when those big bills come in.
Maybe instead of singing loadly back at her, you could just repeat the sermons from your MP3 player…loadly 😉 Thanks again for hosting. For that I am always thankful!!
Thanks for sharing dear one. Summer is going way too fast. Glad you get a day off for the 4th. I pray that it will be refreshing for you. You have a very wise Sweetheart, Iris. You are blessed. Glad you have an MP3 player to listen to at work….and drown out the very loud singing lady! Blessings on your day.
Hi Iris, I am so sorry for being MIA for the past 3 weeks — my life has been crazy with work scheds! I am back and I posted my thankfuls today 😉 I too, am thankful for mornings, where the Lord allows me a fresh start. After a stressful day, I look forward to the night’s sleep because i know it is God’s precious gift to me. A new day, a new start, a new life ahead 🙂
We are giving a fresh start every day. You are so right! What a blessing to be thankful for. If only we would contemplate on that more (a nice story you could expand on for your Laced with Grace writings).
I think the lady sitting next to you may actually crave secretely your spiritual assistance!
Thank you for hosting Thankful Thursday. I didn’t know I would like joining in that much. It really makes a difference.
I am thankful for you =) Have a great day off next week, put up your feet and do nothing, and let hubby grill =)
Even though I know what it is like to grill in 100 degree weather. I promise not to rub it in that it is in the low 70’s where I am going.
Have a great day.
Enjoy the holiday next week! I just got an iPod for Mother’s Day (aren’t my boys fabulous!?) and I am loving listening to sermons in the car. It’s the best! Have a blessed day.
I’ve always loved that verse. The summer is really flying by this year. I’m glad that you finally will have a day off. Blessings to you this week!
You are such a blessing!! Thanks for sharing your thankful heart, and allowing us to participate in this day of thanksgiving every week!! Love and prayers…
Thanks again for letting me tag along!
(Having trouble posting a comment…second attempt) Thanks again for letting me tag along!
THank you for once again hosting TT…I am thankful for you!!!
Blessings-Andie
As always, I love your list. I love how you call your husband “Sweetheart.” I came up with the creative name of “Honey.” 🙂 Anyway, may the Lord bless your socks off today, Iris!
Wonderful List of Thankfulness…… and I would start singing too.
As always, such a sweet list. Thank you my friend for sharing your thankful heart.
Have a blessed day.
Lyndy
Great list! About the lady who sings, does she wear earphones and sing to what she hears. I love to sing along with my music especially when I drive. It’s not so bad if one can hear the song. Sometimes when I’m listening to music online with my headphones, I forget and sing along. I’m sure it doesn’t sound that good to others. Maybe you should give her a CD by your favorite Christian group then you can sing along.

I love your list of thankfuls, Iris. We cook on our grill a lot in the summer, too, to keep from heating up the kitchen. I’ve noticed how hot it’s been where you live. I couldn’t take it! 😉
I LOVE online sermons! I LOVE online Bible Study! I LOVE how these thankful lists reminds me of all that I am blessed with!
I agree about hearing sermons anytime. Sometimes I’ll be surfing through the nonsense of tv when I’ll finally come across someone preaching on the Christian channel – and boy is it a welcome light to my soul:)
Thank you for your list and all these thankful sites to visit!
God Bless you! Betty

I’m thankful you’re hosting this. I just started participating. I love your blog!
OOPS–please, disregard my name for that last linky-thingy! LOL! I meant to put it here. 🙂 Iris, thank you again for your dear heart and hosting Thankful Thursdays each week. I’ve posted at Remain in the Vine and will soon at Every Day is a Blessing.
That’s a great list Iris!! I’m especially thankful today for friends who pray with me too. There’s nothing like knowing others are praying for you. I’m glad you’re going to have a day off. I bet you could out-sing that lady in the next cubicle!!
Have a good day dear friend.
Sorry to hear about your car bill! We had some unexpected expenses last week too. Yuck! Love to read your thankful list in the midst of it all!
I know that it sometimes makes us cringe and we feel it’s wasted money to fork out. But … but….. as you said… how thankful you must be that your husband had put aside…those kind of things make my skin crawl…
Yes, i think you should sing at the top of your lungs…. gospel,,,, yup…
We have had similar woes with our vehicle these last two months – I know the pain but God always works it out! I laughed at your singing co-worker. I have one too and it hurts. ha ha
How great is God to bring in all these thankful women. What a ministry.
My wonderful hubby got me my own MP3 player for my birthday in May…it is always full of online sermons and Bible Classes! It is just wonderful!!
I love John Piper and download sermons. Good list. Lots to be grateful for.
Please think about joining us for Fruit in the Spirit Friday tomorrow. Each Friday morning there will be a FOSF post and My Linky.
OK, I’m a little late to this party. I hope you receive this comment, because I see there are 43 people ahead of me! :~) You’ve got a wonderful thing going here, Iris.
I wanted you to know I nominated you for a Blogger Reflection Award. I know you’ve received it already, but I just felt you were totally deserving of a double honor. So… come take a look when you get a free moment. Big hugs!
Well, leave it to me to link my post about your purse giveaway here. How embarrassing. LOL If you can remove my link, please do. Sigh. I should NOT try to do these things when I’m in a rush.
I’m just here for the purse!
Iris,…. Iris…. 84 people. Man, I have made a concerted effort to visit them all. It is nearly impossible. I think I will probably be still trying through next Thursday and still not get to everyone. WOW!
God looks upon this specific ministry with great interest, you know. He loves it when we give thanks to Him. He sees your mighty efforts to lead the saints to thanksgiving. So important.
I can’t wait to be at the Judgement Seat with you when you receive a Crown for your TT work on earth. I will be the one sitting in the front row, cheering my head off for you. Love you, Lynn
Iris, did you know that you can get J. Vernon McGee’s “Thru the Bible” commentary (from his radio program) on the entire bible in MP3 format? Free! 🙂 I haven’t yet downloaded them but what I do know is that his radio show commentary is outstanding. Check out http://www.thruthebible.org for the information.
Iris, though it is a little bit late for me to read your thankful Thursday list, I know your thankful Thursday is always there for me to read. I am glad to read them, so wonderful ones.
This week,on Thursday, I went out for something, so I forgot to write my thankful Thursday list, so the next week, It should be a long list…:)
