Sing praises to the LORD, O you his saints,
and give thanks to his holy name.
(Psalm 30:4 ESV)
Too often we all ‘storm’ through life without taking a breather. We work all day, than when we are home we work some more; cleaning, cooking, laundry, ministry, business…Our to-do-lists are a mile long.
However, last night our family took a time out and had a wonderful, 2-hour dinner. You see, our son celebrated his 28th birthday on Tuesday. He had been working 12 hour days, including weekends for the past 3 weeks. So, we really did not plan on truly celebrating his birthday until this upcoming weekend. As I was talking to our son on the phone last night, my husband suggested to have dinner together. Our son was happy about the change of plans. I guess he needed the family time as much as we did.
Our son was working on a major project for his company and that is why he had so many long days. When we picked him up, he looked tired, actually exhausted. So I think our son was glad to have a break. We had a great time talking, laughing and catching up on the things going on in our lives.
So this week I am thankful for opportunity we took for an unexpected dinner. I am thankful for the family God has graced me with. And I realized that I should do this type of things more often…take time out with the ones I love. God so often gives us these opportunities and we think we are too busy to take the time. Life is short and our to-do-list will be there tomorrow too.
What are you thankful for this week? Please share with us by leaving a link to your Thankful Thursday post below.
Thank you for stopping by today. Remember: take the opportunities to break out of the daily grind and enjoy time with the ones God has graced you with.
Love & peace,
Iris

Great post,Iris! It’s truly the little things that matter in life. So glad you had a nice dinner with your family.
What a reminder of How God’s Grace is. Even writing and blogging I am thankful for the grace that God has given me to write on survivorship. Survivor who has a purpose to tell my story, from an in depth living experience to seeing how God saved my family including getting a few photos back. God’s grace and his picture is awesome!
How wonderful for you to enjoy that time together!
Enjoy the weekend, friend.
