Great Grandma's Pennant
Believe it or not, but I finally found an old treasure. I totally forgot that I had inherited it from my great-grandma. I just don’t wear it, because this pennant it not ‘my style’.

My mom gave it to me after my grandma passed away about 10 years ago…I remember my great-grandma very well. She was a strict woman, but she loved her family. When I see fresh peas in the grocery store, it reminds me of my great-grandma. She had a fantastic garden with fruit, veggies (love fresh peas) and flowers. It was awesome to spend time at her house. If she needed help picking the peas, she never asked me. I ate them all before she could fix them with dinner . I usually had a tummy ache when we left her house, because of all the fresh cherries, apples and peas (not a great mixture – believe me)…Oh do I miss it! I wish we had the soil and the weather to grow peas here in Arizona…

  1. I had a great-grandma like that! We called her “Grandma in the red shutters” when we were little because she lived in a tiny white house with red shutters. She, too, had a fantastic garden that yielded an amazing array of fruits and veggies and flowers. I think of her so often this time of year when the weather starts to warm up and I start thinking about my own garden.

Thanks for evoking a beautiful memory this morning!

  3. Wow! that’s really an heirloom. Though not your style but it is good to have and cherish. I have memories too but no pictures to take because all my treasured memories are all kept in my heart.

  4. Oh I love this post! The theme of treasure has been hugely important in my own spiritual walk. I like how you started with the pendant and then talked about the treasure of your grandma – and the treasure she gave you in lots of different ways. Thankyou.

  5. Sorry, I’m so late. I’ve been in the garden yesterday and today. I love the pednant. It is beautiful!! I’m glad you have it – it is nice to have something tangible as a memory.
