He Keeps Me Going…

CWO Tuesday Meme

Christine, our hostess this week for CWO’s “In Other Words” chose the following quote by Teri Mawell:

“I am the one holding the keys to the atmosphere in our home.”

“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (ESV)

Paul had it right. But then again, Paul wrote the words of God. Love is the most important part. It was the reason God became flesh. It is the reason that keeps me going day in and day out.

I love my guys. I hope that the atmosphere in our home reflects the love I have for them. Our home is our personal sanctuary from the outside world. Although my days are packed, I am exhausted at times — love keeps me going…

Am I any different than other women who love their family? I doubt that. We cook, we wash, we clean (although I wish someone else would do the iron at my home). But really what makes our homes sanctuaries? Love…

I might be tired, but I always have time to listen to my Sweetheart when he had a hard day at work. I might be grumpy inside, but I still drive our son to places he needs to go. I wish I could read the books I have on my table, but the food needs to be cooked…and the shirts ironed.

Yes, love keeps me going..but not my love, His love that He has shown me. Without His love, I could not do all the thing I am doing.

“So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” ~ 1 Corinthians 13:13 (ESV)

Blessings on your day and I hope to see you at Christine’s place

  1. I had to chuckle at the comment ‘I wish I could read the books on my table’…..this morning when the alarm went off, I could not even see the clock due to all the books I have piled up.

This is a great post. We do all these things, despite our attitudes because of Love. This type of love is not a feeling but a commitment. And with that commitment comes the feelings.

    Blessings.

  2. Looks like we were blessed by the same scripture with this quote!! Some days I feel selfish with my time…I beg for time to read my most recent book find, I beg for a few minutes to visit my friends in the blogoshpere…but you know…I believe that God is allowing me to refocus during these times…so that I won’t mismanage the keys he gave me. BTW….Girl on a Swing is awesome!!! I will email you soon.

  3. Iris, you are such a loving person, so this post reflects you well. Today, this line will be on my mind, “Our home is our personal sanctuary from the outside world.” You make me want to get up and iron something ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. I love that verse. It’s really beautiful.
Thanks for stopping by my blog, I know I haven’t visited you in a while either. Actually, I just began blogging again on a new site:
    http://staceyc.vox.com/
I haven’t been able to access my Blogger blog for some reason, so I haven’t blogged in a while or done much visiting.
Stop by if you get the chance.
    Have a blessed day!

  5. But really what makes our homes sanctuaries? Loveรขโ‚ฌยฆ I am right behing Darlene.. She just cracks me up. I want to iron something as well. Be blessed my friend. Love, Lynn

  6. I can’t remember if I commented or not and am too tired to read through and see if I did. I do however remember what you wrote, which I did read this morning and I think you have it right on. We are called to love and if we as mothers love then it will spread to the rest of the family. Or maybe I am not makin sense and should now go to ed.

  7. This is so simple, yet there’s nothing easy about it. On the surface obvious, yet amazingly profound. To plumb the depths of God’s love for His babies is a never-ending adventure. It DOES compel us to live in a way that’s pleasing to Him; and ultimately best for us and those within our “sphere”. When I take time to remember just how that love was demonstrated for me, wow! I guess I’m energized to do just about anything…including ironing ;).
