How does your day look like? Do you find ‘me-time’? You see, my typical day looks like this (no, I am not going into details – just a rough sketch):
Get up around 5am, get ready for work, leave house by 6am (if I get ready by than – ha!), work in the office until 2:30-3, stop at the store to get things for dinner or other things we need, do household chores, pick-up son from bus-stop, prepare dinner, spend time with my Sweetheart (which is my favorite part of the day)….bed-time between 11:30-midnight….start all over again the next day…
So, where in the world do I find ‘me-time’? If I retreat into our guest bedroom (my computer is located in there), I feel guilty. But why? You see, I have a servant’s heart. I want to please everyone around me and when I take ‘me-time’ it doesn’t seem right. Do I need to learn how to get better with my household chores, so I can have some time before my guys get home? Do I need to get up at 4 (which leaves 4 hours of sleep)? I don’t know. But I need to get more organized in 2006 (Blest and Mom 2 Mom have some suggestions)….If someone has some additional suggestions, I would appreciate it…
We have our computer right in our kitchen, right in the middle of the hulabaloo. This way we can pop on, check our email, read a blog ect. and still be around each other. Many times I will be at the kitchen table sewing, while my husband is playing a football game online and we will chat with each other.
Yikes! Your day is so busy. You definitely need some time to recharge your batteries though. Our computer is also in the family room — which helps me do a couple of things at once. My solution these days is my timer — maybe you could set it to give yourself some uninterrupted, guilt-free alone time. Then your family will know you need this time, but it has a limit.
Thank you Ladies – you are so sweet…
Amie – I do my Bible studies, readings in the family room where my Sweetheart’s computer is located. I think I just need to get some better padded chairs…
Heather – yes, I will start a schedule (after reading Blest’s post and your comment) for some ‘guilt-free me-time’…
Oh, regarding computers – we have 3 at our home. If you knew my guys, you would understand why we have 3 computers – I wouldn’t get any computer time if I wouldn’t had my own – believe me…lol
I’ve found that I save an hour of time using my crock pot to prepare dinner for the next day the night before. I load up the crock pot, stick it in the fridge. When I head out for work at 6 am, I set the crock pot to cook for 6 or 8 hours and when I get home from work, all I have to do is throw some ice in the glasses and we’re good to go! I’ve also found that if I have my devotion and prayer time first thing in the morning, that God blesses that time by adding time to my day. Try it! I’m sure he’ll do the same for you. My schedule looks very similar to yours but I work full time, so I’m up at 5, leaving for work at 6, in traffic an hour to get to work by 7 and work til 7pm each day. When I get home, we eat right away and then my husband and I spend time with my teenage daughter playing board games or watching movies etc.

Thanks Berrymom2005 – I really have to get back doing my devotional first thing in the morning.
Anthony, I removed your comment, because you don’t seem to have a blog…if you don’t have a blogger account, you can sign-in with your other blog….Hope you understand.
My kids are grown, so what I say, I say from hindsight…which is always 20/20. 🙂
I think you need to have ‘me-time’ everyday, even if it’s for 15 minutes a day & it has to remain a priority. Just like cooking dinner or bathing your child.
Sometimes there isn’t time for everything; you still need your ‘me-time’ even when there isn’t.
You may need to realize it’s okay to let other things go some days. The house doesn’t have to look perfect, you don’t have to be the perfect mom & wife.
You are healthier for your family when there is 100% of YOU.
I remember a time when I didn’t even know what my own favorite color was.
The fact that you want to take such good care of your family is what matters…I hope you’ll decide to take care of yourself too.
Thanks Jane for visting and your sweet comment. I will keep that in mind…
Wow, I vote for more sleep. I wouldn’t be able to function on that amount of sleep. Are you one of those lucky people that doesn’t need much sleep or do you catch up on the weekends?
Actually, I been doing better since I don’t sleep as much – really…but still my days are too short – lol
