What did they do before…

No Cell PhoneOkay – I do have one pet-peeve…(otherwise I am a very soft-spoken person – ask my Sweetheart and my best friend)…
I can not tolerate/stand people who are talking on their cell phone while driving.
1. Most of them can not combine those two tasks.
2. It is dangerous for other people who share the same road with them.

What did they do before cell phones were such a popular thing? Oh, don’t get me wrong, I have one too, but my rule is: “Don’t answer the phone while driving” (no one usually calls me on that thing anyway – lol).
Today, again, I had someone in front of me who was talking on his cell, and didn’t pay attention to the traffic. He was moving his arms around – looked like he was giving directions to the person on the other end.
You see, where I come from (Germany to be exact – like you couldn’t tell that by my English), you better pull of the road to talk on your cell; otherwise it will cost you 200 Euros and points on your license.
Sometimes I just want to get out of my car, knock on the driver’s window, and ask them to get off their phone and pay attention to the traffic. But then again, I might get shot at (and I am not kidding either)…and that for sure is not worth it.
Well, I guess I just have to live with it…just like I live with women who put on make-up and men shaving, while driving…Dangerous roads we are on…

Showing Kindness

Living in the Metro Phoenix area is not easy. You have all kinds of people living here, I am one of them. You go about your daily business anonymously, live your life, show kindness to others (at least I try my best in this hectic, fast paced city).
Well, kindness was returned to me today. I bought a new computer desk for my Sweetheart at Ikea. No problem getting it onto the cart with the help of a friendly employee. But on the way to my car, I already thought: “How in the world will I get this box into my xB?” The room in the xB is not the problem (it has folding back seats), just lifting the 42 kilos (I think it is somewhere around 95lbs). As I kept trying to get this oversized box into the back, a man, who had parked his car three rows behind me, started his car back up, drove over to my row and offered his help. I was so thankful, especially since my knee is already banged up, and on top of it, I banged up my elbow today (I think I might have to invest into some football gear or something to protect myself from myself – LOL)
The reason why I write this little story is, because I was so stunned today, to find people in this city who are willing to put their hectic life on hold for a few minutes, and to lend a helping hand.
At any rate, I am glad that I got the computer desk home in one piece…and my Sweetheart finally has a computer desk instead of a folding table.

God’s Direction

Yesterday the devotion (written by Van Walton) from Proverbs 31 Ministry hit right between the eyes. It was talking about that we run sometimes in front of God and we don’t wait on Him to guide our way. I have done it so many times, and I am sure will do it until this life is over.
I think I’ll do the right thing, but than I get myself into a mess and cry out to God and ask Him for guidance. Why do I do that? Because I am human and think I know what is best for me. Ha – that is a great joke.
Not waiting on God is like not asking/getting directions to a place you never have been. Just taken off, not sure where you are going…
I want to share the closing prayer from yesterday’s devotion by Van Walton:
“Great Shepherd, You are the leader of my life, yet I choose often to create my own way rather than follow You. I end up lost, turned around, in a bad situation, or totally confused. I know that following You is the only way to navigate my life successfully. Forgive me and remind me that You are the Way. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
My prayer for you and me today is that we are ready to listen to God’s voice more often and asking for ‘directions’ in our life.

SE Arizona Trip Sep’05

SE Arizona

I was so amazed about the diversity of Arizona. We live in the Metro Phoenix area and the things we saw on our trip were just great – would have never expected to find places like this in AZ.
The collage shows 2 Bed & Breakfast places the Old Bisbee & The Inn at Castle Rock, Main Street in Tombstone, Church in Bisbee, 2 pictures from inside of Colossal Cave & the Butterfly Garden in Colossal Cave Mountain Park.
If you are planning a trip to Arizona this winter, make sure to add one of these destinations to your list.
