Pay it Forward ~ “Safely Home”

Pay_It_Forward

When I saw the “Pay it Forward” post on Laurel’s blog a couple of weeks ago, I haded on over to Overwhelmed with Joy‘s blog to find out more details. I love the concept of sharing books we really enjoyed reading or even have impacted our life. So, I signed up to host a “Pay it Forward Book Exchange”. Please head on over to Overwhelmed to find out the details

The book I am giving away is a brand new copy (sorry, can’t part from my own copy) of my all time favorite, fictional book by Randy Alcorn, “Safely Home“. This book showed me how blessed we are to live in a country where we are free to worship God, without any threat from the government. Although the book was written as fiction, Randy Alcorn based it on true events in China. Believe me, I was not able to put the book down…

I hope you, who ever wins this book, will enjoy it as much as I did. Please leave you link below (make sure that the link is to a valid blog). You do not have to have a blog, but you have to leave me a comment with a valid email address in the “Sign-In” section. The email address will not show up after you publish the comment, so don’t leave the address in the comment itself – okay…I think that is it – I hope.

Oh yeah – almost forgot. I will have the Linky open until August 5th with the winner to be announced on August 6th 😛 .

Blessings on your week and as always…

Books Galore…

Books

Ok so Crystal asked me to participate in this book meme last week. Lately I don’t find the time to read books besides THE BOOK. But I will share anyway. This meme didn’t have a time-table—when I read the books or when I am going to read the ones on ‘my shelf’ 😉 .

The Rules Are:
Post your responses.
Tag anywhere from 1-5 friends
Leave comments to let them know they’ve been tagged.
Come back and leave a comment when your post is up.

Next 5 books on your to be read shelf:

Last 4 books you’ve read:

Last 3 books you’ve borrowed (library or friend):

Last 2 non-fiction books you’ve read:

The 1 book you wish everyone would read:

Why do I recommend Randy’s book “Safely Home”? Although this is a fiction book, it is based on a true story. This book truly has opened my eyes that worshiping the One True God is not always without persecution. The story is about the underground Christian Church in China. Talk about powerful. I will read it sometime soon for the 3rd time—to remind myself what worship really means.

Now I suppose to tag 1-5 people. I am not tagging this time, but I really, really, really would like my readers to share with us about their books, especially their all-time favorite one (oh, did I mention I would really like to know). Leave me a comment so I can check out your book list 😛 .

Once again, I have been MIA this weekend. I really apologize that I have not been around and visited your blogs this weekend (except for all Thankful Thursday participants). I am working on my Scrapbook project. I mean, a really Scrapbook–not just the pages I have been sharing with y’all. My Sweetheart got me some supplies this weekend (photo paper, ink, cutter, Scrapbook). It really starts coming together. And guess what? My Sweetheart really likes it 🙂 . I am using the digi-scrapping supplies–it is so cool–you can print them!!!!!!! Which I could make a living of creating Scrapbooks for others *sigh*…Well, back to my little project. I sure hope to see you around this up-coming week.

Blessings on your Sunday afternoon and always…

“The Mom Complex” ~ Review

The Mom Complex

Author: Darlene Schacht

Not only can I call Darlene a friend; she is also an excellent writer–and funny. “The Mom Complex–Discover the woman God designed you to be” is a book every woman with children should read…let me rephrase that: every woman should read!

Darlene wrote this book in a devotional style–which I greatly enjoyed. She shares her childhood memories; her life with husband Michael and 4 children–Brendan, Maddy, Nathaniel and Graham. I guess if you are raising 4 children, life is never dull. Darlene’s children are all different; unique in their character–one thing shines through on all of them. They have a solid foundation–Jesus Christ. Darlene and Michael are doing such a wonderful job raising Godly children…I believe that little Graham will be one day preaching the Word. But then again, I can see that all four of their children might be involved in ministry.

My favorite part of the book? Darlene offers Scripture in every chapter and a time to reflect on our life in Christ. I love books that apply Scripture to everyday life situations. Throughout the book, Darlene’s writing has helped me to come up with reflections on my own–here at Sting My Heart and Laced with Grace. I am certain that this book will be food for thought for many years to come. Let me share a little nugget from Darlene’s book to wet your appetite:

“We are jostled to and fro when we fight to survive against the current of the world that so easily drags us down. Struggling to find freedom, we desperately clutch to the dome of salvation, but what is that dome that we’re all fighting to hold? It’s only when we firmly plant our fee on a solid rock that we can have confidence on that which we stand. The solid rock on which I stand is salvation through Jesus Christ.”

If you are interested to get your own autographed copy you can purchase it through CWO at http://www.christianwomenonline.net/momcomplex.html. All I can say is–this book will bless you. I have to agree with Darlene: “God’s plan for our life is different than ours”…

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.” ~ Isaiah 55:8-9 (ESV)
