Smelling Good?

CWO Tuesday Meme

“Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.”
~ Calvin Coolidge ~
Former President of the United States

I love this quote. Thank you Darlene for picking it for this week before Christmas. The first Scripture passages that came to mind:

“But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing…”~ 2 Corinthians 2:14-15 (ESV)

Christmas is truly a state of mind for me. I want to share Him with others and be an aroma for Him 365 days a year. I work in a very big and busy office. There is not much time to shine for Him. I like to do it in small things — every.single.day. Be kind to others, smile and extend His mercy to all around me. Especially the ones who don’t know Him…

I am planing on giving little gifts this Christmas (thank you, Vicki for the idea). I wish I would still have the little story about the candy cane — you know the one about the stripes symbolizing Christ’s blood?…Maybe I will find it in time.

Most of the people I come in contact with these days, are hurting. I am not talking about the physical hurt, but the heart hurt. You know…really not knowing what makes one happy? The hurt for searching but not finding? And you know what; we as Christians don’t take the time to explain why we feel different. Sure, we still hurt sometimes inside (I had my fair share this Christmas season), but we have Someone who will listen to our ‘pity-parties’. We know where to find comfort…

Will you join me this Christmas season and into the next year to be good smelling? Smelling of His grace and mercy? Sharing that fragrance with the ones who don’t know the smell yet?

Lord of Heaven and Earth. You are lead us in a wonderful procession. Help us to smell of Your grace and mercy this Christmas season and beyond. Lord, give us the wisdom and the opportunities to share that You came from heaven to earth to save us all. We are trusting in Your Holy Spirit to guide us. I pray this in the Name about all names, I pray in Jesus’ name ~ Amen.

Our hostess this week is no other than the creator of “In Other Words“, Darlene. Please stop by her Blog this morning, check out her post and share your thoughts with all of us by adding your link to Darlene’s post.

I also want to apologize to my readers for being such a stinker whiny brat yesterday…My head was just spinning with things that I don’t have control over. I let it get to me. I am usually a pretty positive person, but some days are just a little crazy. And you know what? It is usually when I don’t spend time in His Word. Honest to goodness! When I think I can handle a day starting without Him – the day pretty much stinks. So, note to self “DON’T DO THAT!!!!” I want to thank all of you for your prayers, but especially Sissy, Jamie, Robin and Carol for your kind thoughts via ecard…

You know, maybe E-Mom was right on Monday…Maybe I am already experiencing the empty nest syndrome .

Well, I am doing much better today…It is always great to hold on to His promise:

“No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you.” ~ Joshua 1:5 (ESV)

I hope your day will be blessed. And remember, drink from the Water that never runs dry…

He Keeps Me Going…

CWO Tuesday Meme

Christine, our hostess this week for CWO’s “In Other Words” chose the following quote by Teri Mawell:

“I am the one holding the keys to the atmosphere in our home.”

“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (ESV)

Paul had it right. But then again, Paul wrote the words of God. Love is the most important part. It was the reason God became flesh. It is the reason that keeps me going day in and day out.

I love my guys. I hope that the atmosphere in our home reflects the love I have for them. Our home is our personal sanctuary from the outside world. Although my days are packed, I am exhausted at times — love keeps me going…

Am I any different than other women who love their family? I doubt that. We cook, we wash, we clean (although I wish someone else would do the iron at my home). But really what makes our homes sanctuaries? Love…

I might be tired, but I always have time to listen to my Sweetheart when he had a hard day at work. I might be grumpy inside, but I still drive our son to places he needs to go. I wish I could read the books I have on my table, but the food needs to be cooked…and the shirts ironed.

Yes, love keeps me going..but not my love, His love that He has shown me. Without His love, I could not do all the thing I am doing.

“So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” ~ 1 Corinthians 13:13 (ESV)

Blessings on your day and I hope to see you at Christine’s place
