Tag Mania

Kind of funny how tags work. I didn’t get tagged for weeks/months? Now I am answering two tags. Here are my answers to Barbara’s and On the Rock tag:

Barbara tagged me with the 4 Word Meme. Basically one person tags a a few others to give their definitions or what comes to mind for 4 particular words, then that person tags other people with 4 different words. Barbara gave me the words boggle, images, wheels and Bible (like the last one). I thought that I would first give you Webster’s definitions and then add my own thoughts to it – how is that?

Boggle ~ Webster says: a) to start with fright or amazement : be overwhelmed; b) to hesitate because of doubt, fear, or scruples. — I have to admit, I do get boggled sometimes. Most of the time it is my own fault though. I get overwhelmed when I put too much on my daily plate. If I don’t get everything done I have set out to do, I get frustrated, thus I am boggled. Note to self: “Don’t put too much on your daily plate”!

Images ~ Webster says: the optical counterpart of an object produced by an optical device (as a lens or mirror) or an electronic device b : a visual representation of something: as (1) : a likeness of an object produced on a photographic material (2) : a picture produced on an electronic display (as a television or computer screen) — Wow, how technical can you get with a definition? I picked this one (there are 5 additional definitions) because I like taking images. Mostly I take images of non-moving objects. I am not so good with people and animals (yet). My favorite object: sunsets in San Carlos — you should see my collection .

Wheels ~ Webster says: (Well there are 10 definitions, but I chose only one): a circular frame of hard material that may be solid, partly solid, or spoked and that is capable of turning on an axle. — My car has wheels, four outside and one inside. Without those wheels I would not get anywhere – hehe.

Bible ~ Webster says: Capitalized a) : the sacred scriptures of Christians comprising the Old Testament and the New Testament ) b: the sacred scriptures of some other religion (as Judaism). — To be honest with you, I didn’t know that Judaism the Book of books is also called Bible. I thought it was called The Books of the Torah. This was very interesting for me to learn. For me personally the Bible the His comfort, His strength, His love, His mercy…I consult/read the Bible on a daily basis.

Who do I tag with the one? No sure. The bloggers I usually tag, don’t answer them…But I will give it a shot: Sissy, Jen, Debbie and Jamie? My words for you: hope, fun, future and bill.

On the Rock’s tag is called Five for Five. The questions are:

1) Five Minutes to yourself. How would you spend them ideally? ~ Only 5 minutes? I would say, read a chapter of “When Perfect isn’t enough…” by Nancy Kennedy.
2) Five Dollars to spend right now. How or where would you spend it? ~ A Frappuccino for my Sweetheart.
3) Five items in your house you could part with right now? ~ TV, dining room chairs (they hurt my tush), some books, old dishwasher, and dirty laundry.
4) Five items in your house you absolutely, positively could never part with? My Sweetheart, Bible, bed, washer, PC.
5) Five words you love? ~ Not sure if I love those word, but I sure use them a lot: salvation, hope, yikes, really?, and love.

Well, the questions to this tag were pretty easy, but who am I going to tag? Lets see: Carol, Amydeanne, Christie, Chrixean, and Beckie?

BTW – one of favorite weekly memes is “In Other Words“. Hope to see you at CWO this week…

Have a blessed Sunday.

But a Simple Woman…

Pretty Rose

…with simple faith. Although I share my faith in Christ on this Blog, I am not here to apologize for the faith I have…

You are wondering why I say this? Well, this post is in response to an email I received this past week. I don’t want to go into details, because the email was just too confusing. No, I don’t have theological discussions on my Blog, because I choose not to.

My Blog has the purpose (besides my personal life) to point to the One way to Heaven. God is a just God, but He is also a loving God. He made a way to Heaven for all of us. The Gospel is but a simple message, I will not add nor will I deduct from it. Jesus was not murdered, but it was the choice of God:

“I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.”
~ John 10:16-18 (ESV)

Since we all have sinned and have fallen short of glory of God, we needed His way out. To be reconciled to Him and spend eternity with Him. Have I stopped sinning? By no means. Although my sins are changing, there are many that reoccur. My pride is my worst enemy. My pride stands in the way of loving the un-lovable. My pride stands in the way to forgive as He has forgiven me. My pride stands in the way of being the wife and mother God wants me to be. And my pride stands in the way for fully living out the life He has planned for me…But through the blood He has shed for me and the gift of the Holy Spirit, I am able to still witness of His great love for all of us and who are willing to receive this gift.

I read a wonderful quote this morning by one of my favorite Bible study writers. You guessed it — Beth Moore. She says in her book “A Heart Like His“:

‘We must remember we don’t stand in victory because of our faith. We stand in victory because of our God. Faith in faith is pointless. Faith in a living, active God moves mountains. He is alive. He is active. He wants to make you living proof. Remember, the Cross would have been God’s worst defeat had the people not had cause to exclaim, “He’s alive!”‘

With His help, I will move mountains — because I believe that He is alive and active in me…

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
~ John 3:16-18 (ESV)

BTW – you might have noticed a new button on my side-bar. My friend Carrie is collecting links of women of faith for her web-site. If you are interested in being linked and share your faith on your Blog, let Carrie know here

Have a blessed Sunday ..

The Matters of the Heart…

“’Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?’ Jesus replied: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’This is the first and greatest commandment”~ Matthew 22:36-38

A comment my friend Jamie left on a post I had written on ‘Blogging with CWO‘, was on my mind all day. Just let me share a little:

‘ Sometimes, I think perhaps my blog is not one favored by most “Christian” blog writer/readers – because it isn’t a “blog about scripture”, full of testimonies or anything.’
And Jamie says this (which really made me think about how sometimes we think about how our brothers and sisters ‘should’ write/blog as Christians):
‘I’d love to glorify God in my blogging. I’m not sure how to go about that tho – considerin’ I lack a lot of knowledge. Also, I can’t quote scripture well. I learn as I go – all while loving and knowing and accepting God as my one and only Saviour. I don’t feel I know enough..’

My first thought was, ‘Who do we really want to ‘reach’ in the Blogging world?’ Most of the time we just blog because we like to share our life on-line with others. We like to ‘bounce’ off ideas in the Blogsphere. Sure, there are plenty Christian bloggers who like to write more about their walk of faith – and they are great at it. There a Christian bloggers who have a mixture of both – their family life and their walk of faith, and then there are other Christian bloggers who like to share their life and the ‘bubbles’ in their head. I like to read them all (okay – I don’t like to read the ones that only ‘preach’ the law and not the Gospel – that is my personal preference). It gives me a great perspective about how other Christian women live, what their hope and dreams are for their children, their dreams in general (yeah – I am still dreaming about the big red motorcycle – one day, I tell you ). I love to connect with women from different denominations, because I helps me to understand sometimes Scripture better, because they have different insights.

Than my second thought was ‘Does God favor His children when we can memorize Scripture?’ My humble opinion is this: What does it matter if you memorize Scripture, but don’t have the understanding of it? What if you don’t let the Holy Spirit lead you to help you understand what God is telling you through Scripture? I think memorizing can come in handy at times, but if it is just ‘head knowledge’ and it is not ‘applied knowledge , than the memorization is in vain. God knows what is in our hearts. That is why I like to have Scripture written my Him on my heart; it gives me comfort in times of distress. Yes, I know quite a few Scripture passages, but I also use my concordance – A.LOT.! Trust me on that…We all constantly learn new things about God, we won’t be perfect until we are glorified with Him in Heaven.

Your heart is right with Him, Jamie, and that is the most important part…. the rest He will do by the power of His spirit.
