“Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.” (Colossians 3:16-17 ~ NLT)
Today, November 11th, many cities in the United States observing Veterans Day with celebrations and parades.
I am thankful for the men and women who have put their own lives on hold serving the United States. I encourage you, no matter how you feel about war, to honor these men and women as well. They have served so that you and me can enjoy the freedom we still have in this country.
Let me share with you what President Wilson said in 1919 (source from U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs):
“To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations…”
