In you, O Lord, do I take refuge; let me never be put to shame; in your righteousness deliver me! Incline your ear to me; rescue me speedily! Be a rock of refuge for me, a strong fortress to save me! ~ (ESV ~ emphasis mine)
Our Lord is still in the ‘business’ of rescuing. I am so thankful that He had mercy on my soul, sent His son to make a way. You know, the Psalms are my favorite part of the Old Testament. Although the OT is full of encouragement from God’s heroes, the Psalms help me through the days that seem really bleak.
I guess our new ‘puppy’ Corky is just as thankful for being rescued from the pound. Have you ever been at your local pound to look at dogs? It is the hardest thing to do — especially looking into all the puppy eyes. You can just see how they all want to leave — get out — get rescued.
Although we were not able to rescue all the dogs on Sunday afternoon, we gave one doggy another chance to have a happy life. I have to say: I am glad that God takes them all — I mean sinners. It does not matter where we come from, where we have been. Just one look at the cross, reaching out in need — He is there…Oh, Lord, how thankful I am for Your great love for us…
What are you thankful for this week? Please do share with us by leaving your link below. Remember, next week (and the entire month of September) we will meet at Laurie’s place “Women Taking A Stand“.
Thank you for stopping by today. Remember: No matter where you have been, He will rescue you 😛 .

I am so thankful that Jesus rescued me! Iris, how exciting that you rescued a puppy; too cute. There’s something wonderful about the unconditional love you receive from a puppy. And isn’t it even better that the Lord provides His unconditional love for us?
Love you, Debbie
Corky is so cute! Bless you for rescuing him. Yes, it’s a rather heartbreaking scene at the pounds. Would be nice if each dog has a loving home to live in.
So thankful to the Lord for His love that reaches down to rescue us…
thank you for this lovely post and for sharing the picture of the precious little Corky!
Be blessed,
Susan

What a beautiful thought! Thank you for sharing. (Enjoy your new puppy!)
Irs, this blesses my heart.
Praise the Lord!
Awh, Iris! Corky is adorable! I’m so glad you were able to rescue him! Rescued dogs make the best pets. It’s like they are showing their appreciation.
Thanks for reminding us that we once needed rescuing! Sometimes, I think we forget that!
Glad you rescued that puppy!
Thank you for your connection of the dogs at the pound being ‘rescued’ and God’s rescue of us, the sinners, that He will take us all in any condition. It is our need that draws us to Him. I am so ever thankful that I turned and fell into His arms.
I am glad Corky has a new home, too.
Thanks for hosting this month! (I forgot to check my “name”, there are no recipes in my posting today! ugh! didn’t I do that last time too? ugh!)
I’ve also had a few “pound puppies” and they can be great friends. Good luck with yours!
