My sweet friend from Texas (Carol) tagged me with the Wiki Birthday Meme Thing – at least that is what she called it.
Here are the rules are:
1) Go to Wikipedia
2) In the search box, type your birth month and day but not the year.
3) List three events that happened on your birthday
4) List two important birthdays and one death
5) One holiday or observance (if any)
6) Tag 5 other bloggers to complete
Events
- 1942 – Glenn Miller and his Orchestra perform for the last time before Miller enters the US Army. (I used to listen to his music when I was about 10)
- 1968 – The stage musical Hair opened at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London, where it played 1,998 performances until its closure was forced by the roof’s collapsing in July 1973. (I didn’t see ‘Hair’ in London, but attended ‘Jesus Christ Superstar‘ in 1979 in London–with my youth group)
- 1999 – The last professional baseball game is played at historic Tiger Stadium in Detroit, Michigan.(Spring Training or ‘The Cactus League‘ is held in Arizona–Tigers train in Florida though
2 Birthdays & 1 Deaths
- Birthday: 1840 – Thomas Nast, German-born political cartoonist (just had to pick a German)
- Birthday: 1972 – Gwyneth Paltrow, American actress
- Death: 1944 – Aimee Semple McPherson, American evangelist (that was the most interesting person from the list)
Holiday/Observance
