5 Things You Didn’t Know?

Red Rose

I was tagged by E-Mom with the Five-things-you-didn’t-know-about-me meme. This is really hard for me to come up with 5 things, because if you have been reading this blog for a while – there is not much more about me. At least interesting stuff . But I will give it my best to tell you something new about me…

  1. You know that I like photography — flowers (roses in particular) are my favorite object. You know why? Because I have a hard time taking pictures of moving objects.
  2. My great-grandfather on my father’s side was a ‘traveling’ Lutheran preacher in Germany. I guess that is why I like theology so much – maybe?
  3. I took four in-depth theology courses (Lutheran perspective) on-line and I very much enjoyed it. I actually aced all the classes and my profs were happy about that :).
  4. I get sometimes panic attacks while driven — especially when it is dark. I know — not a good thing, just can’t help it. If I get them, I have to pull over and just relax for a few minutes. I usually pray The Lord’s Prayer during that time…
  5. My grandfather (who died after the 2nd World War as a prisoner in Russia) spoke 7 different languages. I guess that is why our son has a neck knack (thanks E-mom ) for languages. I only know 2 and hoping to add a 3rd one to my ‘repertoire’ – Italian. Our son gave me software a while back, so I can learn it. Not sure if anything else fits in this old noggin though…

Actually as I was typing the ‘unknown facts’ about me, more popped into my head. But I keep them to myself for now. Who knows? Maybe I get tagged again…Or did you know all the above facts?

Okay – I suppose to tag others with the meme, but every time I do, others don’t play…Well, maybe I can try it with some people I would like to know more about, like Sissy, Laurel, Cyndi, Heather, Darlene and Christie? Are you ladies in? If not — that is okay…I understand.

Well, E-Mom, did you learn anything new? I hope I didn’t bore you too much. As I mentioned – I am not a very interesting person …

I hope to see some of you tomorrow over at Laced with Grace. Blessings on your Sunday evening and as always…

Faith Shape

Oh.my… – the questions are getting harder, especially looking at them from God’s point of view. Do I really do what He has called me to do? Do I follow His voice? Will He say: “Well done, good and faithful servant…” (Matthew 25:21) – I pray He does…So here are my answers to this week’s questions…

How do you tend to go about things and how does that affect how you obey, worship, and love God?

Are you a go-getter or laid back? ~ I would say I am laid back. But when He gives me a passion, you better get out of my way – I go for it…

Do you keep it simple or do you go all out? ~ I keep it very simple. Maybe sometimes too simple. But then again – the Gospel message is simple .

Do you finish what you start or leave it for someone else? ~ Most of the time I finish what I start, but have to admit that I sometimes get side-tracked…

Do you like the best laid plans or prefer to wing-it? ~ Nope – no winging here. If I do something, especially when it has to do with His Word — I better get my ducks in the row. How can I lead Bible studies if I am not sure what He telling me?

Do you like to be different, to stand out in the crowd? ~ Hm – very good question…”Stand out in the crowd”? – Yes, I do – especially outside Christian circles…I share what I believe.

Do you prefer to go about unseen, be like everyone else? ~ Again, depending if I am with Christians or in the circle of non-believers…”You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.” ~ Matthew 15:14

Do you prefer the unusual or the normal, the intellectual or action? ~ Oh my — what is normal these days? Some would consider me unusual and abnormal…they avoid my like the plague.

Are you a doer or a dreamer? ~ I think I have a mixture of doing and dreaming. Sometimes I dream really big. Depends on Him if those dreams are realized…

Are you a follower or rebellious? ~ Is this getting any harder? Follower of Christ – Yes. Follower of the world – No. Rebellious against God – sometimes (I tend to argue with Him when I don’t feel comfortable doing something and get a knot in my tummy). Rebellious against the world views – Yes!

Are you diminish yourself or do you struggle with pride? Oh, the pride issue again . In some situations it still rears its ugly head…

Are you old fashioned or do you like all things new? In some things I am very old fashioned – some call it conservative. But I also like new things – especially when it comes to music .

Do you like things the same or do you prefer change? I would love for the world to change – more in step with His Spirit…

Are you very open about your life or are you more secretive and careful? I would say I am very open about my life.

Last of all, how does your personal style affect your relationship with Him? Open to His calling, honest, love, hope, trust…

How about you? How would you answer the above questions? Please do share…To check out out other Shape of Your Faith journeyers, visit Heather at Graced by Christ…And if you are looking for the Chick’s carnival, please scroll down …

Tag Mania

Kind of funny how tags work. I didn’t get tagged for weeks/months? Now I am answering two tags. Here are my answers to Barbara’s and On the Rock tag:

Barbara tagged me with the 4 Word Meme. Basically one person tags a a few others to give their definitions or what comes to mind for 4 particular words, then that person tags other people with 4 different words. Barbara gave me the words boggle, images, wheels and Bible (like the last one). I thought that I would first give you Webster’s definitions and then add my own thoughts to it – how is that?

Boggle ~ Webster says: a) to start with fright or amazement : be overwhelmed; b) to hesitate because of doubt, fear, or scruples. — I have to admit, I do get boggled sometimes. Most of the time it is my own fault though. I get overwhelmed when I put too much on my daily plate. If I don’t get everything done I have set out to do, I get frustrated, thus I am boggled. Note to self: “Don’t put too much on your daily plate”!

Images ~ Webster says: the optical counterpart of an object produced by an optical device (as a lens or mirror) or an electronic device b : a visual representation of something: as (1) : a likeness of an object produced on a photographic material (2) : a picture produced on an electronic display (as a television or computer screen) — Wow, how technical can you get with a definition? I picked this one (there are 5 additional definitions) because I like taking images. Mostly I take images of non-moving objects. I am not so good with people and animals (yet). My favorite object: sunsets in San Carlos — you should see my collection .

Wheels ~ Webster says: (Well there are 10 definitions, but I chose only one): a circular frame of hard material that may be solid, partly solid, or spoked and that is capable of turning on an axle. — My car has wheels, four outside and one inside. Without those wheels I would not get anywhere – hehe.

Bible ~ Webster says: Capitalized a) : the sacred scriptures of Christians comprising the Old Testament and the New Testament ) b: the sacred scriptures of some other religion (as Judaism). — To be honest with you, I didn’t know that Judaism the Book of books is also called Bible. I thought it was called The Books of the Torah. This was very interesting for me to learn. For me personally the Bible the His comfort, His strength, His love, His mercy…I consult/read the Bible on a daily basis.

Who do I tag with the one? No sure. The bloggers I usually tag, don’t answer them…But I will give it a shot: Sissy, Jen, Debbie and Jamie? My words for you: hope, fun, future and bill.

On the Rock’s tag is called Five for Five. The questions are:

1) Five Minutes to yourself. How would you spend them ideally? ~ Only 5 minutes? I would say, read a chapter of “When Perfect isn’t enough…” by Nancy Kennedy.
2) Five Dollars to spend right now. How or where would you spend it? ~ A Frappuccino for my Sweetheart.
3) Five items in your house you could part with right now? ~ TV, dining room chairs (they hurt my tush), some books, old dishwasher, and dirty laundry.
4) Five items in your house you absolutely, positively could never part with? My Sweetheart, Bible, bed, washer, PC.
5) Five words you love? ~ Not sure if I love those word, but I sure use them a lot: salvation, hope, yikes, really?, and love.

Well, the questions to this tag were pretty easy, but who am I going to tag? Lets see: Carol, Amydeanne, Christie, Chrixean, and Beckie?

BTW – one of favorite weekly memes is “In Other Words“. Hope to see you at CWO this week…

Have a blessed Sunday.
